Mobile Hydraulics Manual 2nd Edition

If you're a newbee to hydraulics, or have had some experience, this is a great manual to have in your personal library. It is obviously a classroom text that begins with the assumption that you have no idea how a hydraulic system works, but if you study this book, by the end you'll have a very firm grasp of pumps, motors, control valves (manual and remote - electric, pnumatic and hydraulic over hydraulic), hydrostatic transmissions and steering systems - everything you ever wanted to know but were afraid to ask! If you're thinking of builing yourself a log splitter, a front-end loader for your tractor, a power steering system for one of your old implements, or you're just someone with a workshop, an idea, and too much time on your hands and needs a working knowledge of hydraulics to make your idea a reality - this book is for you!

This Eaton Mobile Hydraulics Training manual is one of the best hydraulic trainers I have seen. Covers the most basic hydraulics to very complex modern day systems. It also has pump load sensing and compensation. It is rare to find a text book that covers hydrostatic transmissions and this text book has a chapter on these very complex drive systems. I currently have 3 apprentices studying this well written training book and they are all happy with it. Highly recommended.

Great, informative book. It covers everything from basic fluid principles to advanced hydraulics. It has lots of illustrations, conversion charts, schematics, symbol identification charts, and even a couple pages that help you spec the right components for a hydraulic system based off required flow/pressures.

This text book is very informative. However, since Eaton bought out Vickers and republished this text, some of the page numbers in the Table of contents do not match up, and there are a couple mis-spelled words. But hey, its not like us mechanics can't figure it out. I really like this text, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get a better understanding of Mobile Hydraulics. Also, it was about the same price after shipping as it would have been to order it from Eaton. Only a $2 difference. Eaton may sell their book for $70, but it was $15 for shipping, which is $2 more than the $80 plus $3 shipping by getting it here from Amazon. I would've just got it at my schools book store for $65 plus tax, but they were out. They seem to never have the books i need until the 2-3rd week of class for the Deisel program I'm in. Don't know why, but thats just how it is, so I had to order it online. It only took about 3 days to get my book.

As Maintenance training instructor. The books, Mobile Hydraulics Manual and Industrial Hydraulic 5th Ed, are really books what I was looking for to help me to improve my basic knowledge in hydraulic system and I will use the ideas from those books for my training participants. Thank you I love them.

Easy to read. Lots of nicely coloured pictures. It makes for easy understanding of fluid pathways and valve construction. Great index and word definitions. Amazon's price beats the Eaton website price by about $30? Shipping was fast and right to my door. Can't complain.

A very easy book to understand with great illistrations.

Déjà confortable avec les bases physiques (un retour est toujours utile) et l'hydraulique industriel, je considère ce livre comme un bon investissement pour qui débute ou désire transférer ses compétences vers les équipements mobiles. Des exemples visuels concrets pour les dispositifs utilisés sur les équipements mobiles sont présentés avec desexplications claires..

Disappointed with quality. Damage to corners and spine. Was way over priced for a "like new" rating. I could have bought a brand new book for the price.
