4 months of using the SMP Extra Saddle
I got this saddle to replace the original seat on a 35 year-old mountain bike. It was hard as a rock and painful to sit on. I first tried the Wittkop Medicus Air, which was comfortable enough but I couldn't get it level on the seat clamp. A friend who rides every day recommended the SMP. It was easy to install and I got it level with no trouble. It doesn't have the same amount of cushioning as the Wittkop — and not much more than my old seat — but I have not experienced any discomfort when using it. I ride about 30 minutes a day. One thing I love is the dropped nose which makes getting on and off the bicycle easier. I would buy this product again.

It is a great saddle for road bikes, easy to install and made of good material.

Excellent Long Distance Saddle
Great seat. I have one on all 3 of my road/gravel bikes. No pain or numbness at all on long rides (75+ miles).

One of the most comfortable saddles you can buy
If you don’t get professionally fitted, it’s somewhat of a crapshoot, with much trial and error with different saddles to fit yourself. Having said that, it is possible. And this seat is a great place to start. I installed this saddle on my 2017 Cannondale CAAD 12, which by the way might very well have one of the least comfortable stock saddles available. After 4 rides and various micro-adjustments with the Selle SMP, I’m happy. The saddle is comfortable, I’m maintaining my position without squirming, and I can now take long rides with comfort. You can pay $400 for a top-of-the-line Selle saddle. I think this saddle at one-fifth the cost is a remarkable value.

Not very comfortable
I put this saddle on my road bike. It seems to fit me a little better than the Selle TRK that I had before. The Extra is just a little bit narrower. Overall, I would say it’s not very comfortable. But saddle choice is a very personal thing. Everyone is different.

Saved My A**
Had an issue with prostatitis, so Doc told me I had to change sonething or stop road cycling. Selle SMP Extra is a high quality, comfortable saddle that met my needs and offered protection for my parts. Needed little breaking in. My 30mile rides are great and lessened the problem considerably. Because of the open slot and curved nose, now I can ride in the drops much more easily and longer, and my pedal stroke has improved overall as well. Seems durable - no compression of cushioning after 6 months use. It is a little pricey, but comparable to other quality saddles. I'm grateful to find a great saddle for my road bike so I can continue the pleasure of riding!

Just what I needed
I bought the "Well" smp seat and the "TRK" and found that the "Extra" was the best of the 3 for what I needed it for. The Well is too thin at the back for mtn biking, my pants would hang up when way off the back trying to get back on, whereas the extra is more rounded at the back and allows re-enty onto the seat with more ease. The TRK is just a bit too wide and soft but ended up working great on my beach cruiser. All the seats provide relief on the prostate area, especially if you do long rides like I do. The drop nose is great also, keeping pressure on your groin area. I would recommend any of these seats but the "Extra" version was just right for my purposes.

The last saddle you will need to buy
If you are having trouble finding a comfortable saddle, stop your looking and buy this one. I was struggling with comfort and fit until I put the Selle SMP Extra saddle on my road bike. The curved design holds me in the proper position on the saddle, and after some tinkering with the exact position, I now have a saddle I can ride in for long distances. I just completed a 70 mile ride and had no hand numbness, no lower back pain, and no shoulder pain. It was a truly wonderful thing to be that comfortable on such a long ride.
