This is a story of how a family almost fall apart when the head of the house(Big Momma) is not able to guide the family thru hard decisions anymore. It truly shows how if you teach your children right, the values in which you instill in them will last...forever. The method of this partical family getting together is Sunday dinners at Big Momma's house in which they enjoy the company of each other and some of the greatest Soul Food cooked in your own momma's kitchen. This isn't a boring movie or a goody goody movie, but more of a real life drama that some people viewing this movie can relate to. This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, and will see again and again.

I watched this movie over the holiday with my teenagers. The family story is relevant to all families. My household enjoyed the movie immensely and discussed it at the end. I will admit that there are a couple of scenes that I would not deem appropriate for young children and some language even. However, the show is good and the majority of the film (85%ish) was great. I used to own this in VHS and loved the cookbook that came with the VHS purchase. Just my two cents.

Great film that touches a bit on the plight of Black men in the US. Girls had great chemistry, wonderfully acted. The entire cast was so so good and the casting excellent. I don't know where they found the narrator but he was phenomenal. So nice to see these actors again after all these years (first time watching this film). Only qualm is that the daughters with careers both look up to their homemaker sister, perpetuating pretty outdated ideas of what it means to be a woman, but other than that this was hot cocoa with marshmallows on a cold winter evening.

You know it's a throwback classic if you watch it when you get a feeling for soul food.

A nice soulful evening with popcorn and beer. Reminds me of the days when we all gathered around mum's for Sunday dinner.

Love the movie watch it over and over again

DVD came in scheduled time frame expected, item was secure and well packaged. The film was really good value for money,definately a good buy with identifiable lessons for life. One area might be offensive or cause embarrasement, otherwise a good 'chic flick' I would recommend it.

This cheered me up as I watched it during lockdown. I couldn't stop laughing.

Such a great story about a close family who meet every week for 'Soul Food' at 'Big Momma's house. But the cracks and deception starts to show, as 'Big Momma' falls ill.
