Wholesome and very versatile
Great quality product and practical packaging. Very versatile as it can be used like rice, for savoury dishes, or to make the creamiest breakfast porridge. I soak the grains first (until they can be βcutβ between thumbnail and finger or overnight), drain, rinse and cook in 1.5 volume of water/stock with herbs, seeds, spices etc..for savoury or in 4 volumes of milk (of choice) with a vanilla pod (optional) in one of the low ovens of my Aga, but the same could be achieved on the hob on a very low setting until all the liquid has been absorbed to make a thick and creamy porridge (which can then be thinned by adding more milk if preferred). The most interesting thing is that this porridge does not make me feel lethargic for hours after eating it nor does it give me any abdominal pain afterwards like porridge made from rolled oats does. I generally love porridge, but sadly it doesnβt like me - therefore, I am delighted to have tried these groats - if you like whole grains, then donβt hesitate, these offer great versatility!

Groats ok, but packaging fragile
The plastic packets they come in get damaged very easily- it would be better if they plastic was thicker or if they were in thick paper bags. I somehow managed to break the packaging just putting them away, when another thicker plastic bag brushed up against it, which is ridiculous!Such fragile packaging is not great protection from cupboard moths- so they need immediate decanting into storage containers- which is not that convenient for bulk purchases.

Groats are great, just find a way of cooking you like.
Cooks up great if you follow the instructions. I used to cook groats in a large batch and keep it in the fridge for heating up - I haven't tried that with these yet, but it should work.(My method : 4 cups groats and 16 cups water in a big pot. Bring to boil. Turn off heat, cover, and leave to cook and cool overnight. Transfer to airtight containers and put in fridge.)

Excellent porridge groats
Excellent porridge groats, just whizz them in a blender or coffee grinder fresh each morning. Alternatively add them to sourdough rye bread, or soup. Best tasting groats I've found. A+

Not for sprouting
Bought these for sprouting. Tried to sprout them several times, put in a warm, hot, cold place - no result. These are not for sprouting perhaps the seeds are damaged.

Not recommended.
A high proportion of the grains are broken and they cook to mush. Not recommended.
