Great durability. I use these in a construction/excavation environment. So they have been dropped banged around a lot and still no problems. Easily good for 1.5 miles of wooded land and no problems with reception. Ear pieces aren’t the greatest

These are ok within 1 mile in flat lands like Texas. Start to break up after that and at 1.5 miles out of range. The NOAA capability is bad. Scans through channels rests on one and totally static, cannot decipher information. Compared them to another NOAA capable radio we have where we could here the information. Do not buy if your looking for a NOAA capable device or something with more than 1 to1.5 mile unobstructed range. Returned after our initial test, looking for a different set.

VOX does not work. Plug is restricted by plastic case and does not seat fully. Consequently sound is extremely low. Forcing plug to seat properly by manually pressing plug into case provides OK sound. But what's the point of VOX if I have to hold the plug seated into the radio?All other functions seem OK.

It works great for us! When my boyfriend is outside, I am able to talk to him from the house and he’s a bit far out.

I have had other brand ham radios, this slim UV-5R feels better to hold. The radio has more functions to use, for example, with FM radio to listen. Also the transmitting seems good. One more plus is that this package comes with more thoughtful accessories.

Right out of the box these where fantastic! We tested them all day and haven’t had a single issue. We drove to our local Walmart to check how far these can reach (bear in mind we live in a heavily wooded and a very mountainous area) we got as far as 2 Miles with these! That’s further than advertised, of course in more flat areas you’ll see an increase in range. The whole Noaa weather addition is also very useful and easy to use when in a emergency, and speaking of emergencies these Walkies have an emergency siren if you’re in trouble which anyone would find extremely useful, I also really enjoyed the call button, I’ve had few Walkie Talkies in my life so I’m not sure if this is standard or not but the call button wakes the other walkie so when the other person turns their walkie off this will signal them to answer! Overall these Walkies are fantastic and absolutely worth the money, these will be used heavily so I will update later on, if anything interesting happens.
