Great read
After winning this book on a Goodreads give away, I dove right in. It was suspenseful and well written, and also brought light to the world of human trafficking and the disturbing world that goes on behind closed doors that many no nothing about. The book kept me interested, and had many twists and turns. I would recommend reading.

Quick read with numerous plot twists
This is a quick read with numerous plot twists.Even though it’s a little predictable, it’s an enjoyable read. As always with Grant’s books, there’s also educational content with archaeology and science. The main character Signe is determined and smart. There are a few typos which can be distracting at times.

Thrilling Read
As usual with Rachel Grant’s (R S Grant) books, I found myself on a thrill ride from beginning to the actual ending. What a great locale for a mystery to unfold. I found myself wanting to visit Yosemite to revisit the book’s suspenseful sites. Signe Gates is the main character in search of the missing 48 hours in her life.Tackling human trafficking and rape is a difficult enough task , so I personally appreciate the fact that this author took on this tremendous responsibility. Thank you for that!Thoroughly captivating read. If you read any book, please do yourself a favor and read this one.I read this book as a part of her ARC team and I am reviewing this book as truthfully and thoughtfully as I can.

Excellent
Rachel\RS or whatever name she uses writes fantastic books with the perfect balance of fully developed characters, pacing, atmosphere, fascinating stories, all the good stuff. If you enjoy emotionally riveting suspense thrillers with a strong element of personal growth and hot but fairly believable romance, get in the habit of pre-ordering this women's books.

worth the read
i would not consider this a perfect book. i did enjoy it however. there were no real surprises in the story, but the characters were fine. i do appreciate that it was trying to tackle a tough subject with the human trafficking side. i feel that aspect was handled well.

Great story.
I hate human trafficking and this story was a hard read. I wish Cole could have been more honest with Signe because I thought the story would have been better. I wanted her to have someone on her side from the beginning. Also, people are out to get her, and she took too many stupid chances over and over. I thought that was just unrealistic.

Intense, dark, and gritty with great twists and turns!
Fantastic and intense, loved it all! Absolutely unputdownable read with darker overtones, suspense, mystery, deceit, secrets, and many shocking twists and turns. Good guys, bad guys…who’s really who, and how does everything connect? It’s an adrenaline rush full of questions and shocking discoveries with heartbreaking and terrifying outcomes with a dash of romance and a happy ending.*I received an ARC from NetGalley via the publisher and/or author and I voluntarily reviewed the book. All thoughts and opinions are solely my own. Thank you for the amazing read!

Exciting twists, unexpected turns, and a hint of romance
A dark and gritty thriller with lots of twists and turns, a few of which I definitely didn’t see coming! As a result, this book was difficult to put down, keeping me up until the earlier hours, because the end of each chapter had me desperate to continue onto the next!As a huge fan of Rachel Grant’s romantic suspense novels, this was a different pace and tone from the usual, with murder, lies, and deception, but the same exciting storytelling and well-written and engaging characters I’ve come to expect and love from this author. One thing I wasn’t expecting was the light romance that threaded throughout the background of this story, but I’m definitely not complaining about it either! What there was didn’t overwhelm the story or take away from the main thriller elements —just a few kisses and one “spicy scene”, but it’s very tame, tastefully done, and meaningful to the plot. If anything, the personal connections and relationships between characters only added to the suspense, and had me doing some internal cheerleading and e-reader clutching as the climax reached its peak!If you’ve ever read Karen Rose you’ll feel right at home here with Grant’s beautiful weaving of deep emotions and exciting action.Highly recommend if you enjoy books that take you to the edge of your seat from the first chapter and keep you there until the end. Looking forward to more R S Grant stories in the future!

I did not want to stop listening
This is another great suspense story from Rachel Grant. Complex storyline, complex characters and huge trust issues. Parts of this story were difficult to read due to the violence towards some characters. Although I had picked one of the villains early on I did not pick just how bad they were going to turn out to be.It is fast paced and you will want to continue listening despite what else may be going on. The description of the scenery helped to visualise the setting.

Strange book
This was a bit of an odd novel in many ways. It didn’t actually feel that different to her usual books so I was not sure why a new pen-name was needed. The plotting was excellent with tons of twisty turns. I wasn’t that keen on her name or nick-name but that’s just me. Reading about what happened to Signe in the ‘buried hours’ was actually depressing and exhausting and I wondered if there were just too many details shared. The biggest problem I had with the book, intellectually, was her actual career choice. Why on earth would you give media platforms to evil criminal filth so they can explain why they commit their crimes? Nobody cares, they just want them locked away forever. To be fair, a few people call her out on this and the risks she exposes everyone to through the novel but it just felt like none of it added up even though she took her job so, so seriously. As always, some excellent research where I learned a lot about new topics and I would welcome a follow-up novel with the main character’s friend.

Could not put it down
Whoa! What a ride! So many secrets, so many lies, so much betrayal. Impossible to know who can be trusted. And just when you think you have it worked out, think again. Well-written, well-constructed and impossible to put down. Highly recommended.

great book
Wow what an emotional rollercoaster of a ride! That was crazy. I can’t quite believe what I just read. Although for me the subject matter was more than I was really comfortable with it doesn’t diminish what a fabulous storyline it was. In the beginning I had absolutely no clue. Well done Ms Grant the suspense and intrigue were off the charts awesome. The narration was excellent too. It really made the book come alive.
