Sealey Ls575Vh Hydraulic Log Splitter 8Tonne 575Mm Capacity Vertical Type

I purchased this item in July 2012. I wanted a splitter that would be easily transportable to where ever I was working on our small farm. I also wanted something fairly powerful as I am frequently splitting oak. Assembling and setting up the splitter was simple and at first I was pleased with my purchase. I had noticed in the instructions that it said be careful not to overload the splitter, but how do you know? I was not concerned because I thought 8 tons was more pressure than I would ever need. I found that I was wrong when the seals on the hydraulic ram failed. As I have mentioned, there is no way of knowing what pressure you are exerting and no safety pressure release. I replaced the seals and the same thing happened again almost immediately. I shall put this down to experience when looking for another splitter but regret to say that I am very disappointed with this purchase and would caution anyone thinking of using it for anything other than very light duty.

Great item thank you or the best quality one of the retaking arms has snapped off after three uses.... Hydraulic pump not very efficient

Log splitter is a good quality piece of kit, it works well.

The machine is of good rugged heavy duty construction,BUT, a machine is only as good as the weakest link in the chain. In this case the hydraulic ram is no good. The internal seals failed on the first one I had and the external seals failed on the replacement. I requested a refund.Put a decent hydraulic pump on it and it could be an excellent piece of kit

Quite awkward to put together. Ended up leaving the arms off as not really needed for us. Apart from that it works well and very labour saving.

As with another review I am disappointed with this machine. This was purchased in September 2013 and within weeks the seals had gone on the pump. This was replaced by Seeley and the machine worked for the rest on the winter. This winter season I have not needed to split logs until just recently when I needed to split about half a dozen small logs but once again the seals have failed. As I am in my late seventies and of light build I would not have thought it possible for me to overload the machine! Not a good buy!

This is a great tool for the job it doesn't use any electricity & gives your legs & heart a good workout into the bargain ! Well worth the investment.
