Great Thermos
Thermos brand is the best. It keeps food hot for about 8hours. No prepping needed to put hot water in before use. I have tried other brands and they don’t work for me. All I have to do I put my food in the thermos.

changed my life
This thing changed my life. No more junk food!Heat insulation is awesome. Now, It's not perfect. So you have to take some precautions to extend its capability. Before you put food in, heat the thermos first. You should do this by filling it with boiling water up to top and wait a couple minutes while the top lid is closed. Then you should heat your food as hot as possible before putting it in. And make sure the lid is tightly closed. If you follow these rules, in case of liquid food you can eat it "hot" even after 8 hours. I'm not kidding. It's hot. Soups can be consumed warm even after 12-16 hours. The story isn't this good in case of solid food. 6 hours later its hot. But after that it will start to get colder, thats simply because solids doesn't have the heat capacity of liquids. But if you are not picky you can eat it still warm after 8 hours, at 10-12 hours it will be barely warm but still edible. The jar, has a very good size to it. If necessary, you can hold it with two hands and drink your soup. Outer cap isn't big enough to be useful though. One problem you will experience occasionally is that, the lid gets too tight. Very tight. But it has a "great" grip. If you have the power and patience you will open it. Don't worry. But a kid won't be able to open it. So it's not appropriate for giving to your kid for this simple reason.Another problem is the seal. If you forget to put it on, heat preservation time will be less than 75% and maybe half. If you loose it, you won't find a replacement and your thermos will almost loose its function. So be careful with it. Also when cleaning, the seal gets the smell of the soap. This will cause a soap smell when you open the thermos afterwards, but I never had soap smell from the food itself. The solution is to clean the seal in the evening and let it wait in water for the night. This will get the potential smells of the ring.

Stays hot or cold a long time
I first order this in a different color. After testing it out I decided to buy more and get this color so that we knew whose was whose. They are easy to clean with the wide mouth.I make oatmeal in them by filling it half way with rolled oats, sprinkle in some cinnamon, a little maple syrup, and some dried apples, then filling to the top with boiling water. Close tightly both tops. In a few minutes it's perfectly cooked fluffy oatmeal. The oatmeal gets made and stays in my bag for 6 hours before it gets eaten, it's still steaming hot!!! On a road trip I made it in the morning and opened it 12 hours later, still steaming hot! I once made a few thermoses and one didn't get eaten, I was so tired when I got home that I put it in the fridge still sealed closed with the hot oatmeal inside. In the morning I opened it (24 hours later and stored in fridge) and it was still very warm!I also store cold water in one, and have stored soup. It works just as long and well for hot and cold. I have since purchased a few bigger ones for cold water and no longer need to carry coolers with ice packs. I live in a hot climate and even after leaving it in a hot car for 6 hours+ the cold water stayed cold.

Excellent thermos
With no microwave available at my husband's job, buying lunch everyday can be very expensive, so I decided to get him this thermos. It's a nice looking thermos that looks well made and holds a lot. I leave his lunch prepared in a separate container so that before he goes to work, at 7:00am, he heats it up in the microwave (you cannot put thermos in the microwave) and then he just pours it into the thermos. When he has lunch at 12:00pm the food is still hot.During the weekend when I go out I leave the thermos opened in the refrigerator (you have to pre-cool it), and then fill it with milk for my son and it does a good job of keeping it cold for several hours. You can use the lid to pour your beverage and maybe soup, I think the lid could have been a little wider, but I guess you can also eat from the thermos, otherwise it's a good investment and does a good job keeping food hot or cold :)

It's perfect for what I needed
My husband and I coach high school cross country and track & field. 2 evenings a week and Saturdays are spent out at the meets coaching. I wanted something that would keep our home cooked meals warm to ensure we eat a good healthy meal while at the meets instead of stuffing our faces with unhealthy and, let's face it, over priced food. We've been sharing one Thermos and so far, there has been more than enough room for 2 serving of whatever we are having. The only downside (so far) is the opening can be too narrow for certain foods; it's great for soups and meals that are meant to be mixed or mashed together as there isn't much room to keep food separate inside the jar.To "prep" the food jar, I boil some water and throw it in the Thermos to heat up the food jar while I cook our meal. When I'm done cooking, I empty the food jar, dry it and stuff it with our meal for the meet. Once it's time to eat, the food is still hot, not warm, hot! On average, the food is stored in the food jar for about 4-5 hours before we eat. There have been no issues with it so far and I'm hoping things stay that way! I'm pretty surprised and pleased with how well it's been working for us.
