Slow start, great finish
Not Connelly 's greatest but worth a read. A lot of procedural and organisation stuff which is important to the story but slows it down. The second half picks up the pace and the book has a poignant ending. Connelly is one of the best ever in this genre and I was glad I'd read this by the time I finished it.

Lost souls - disappear into Bosch's world
A great addition to the Bosch series, bring Harry out of retirement to join the unsolved cases in LA or the lost souls. The story follows three cases intertwined with politics and Bosch's past, spreading out beyond LA.Connelly is on good form, bringing his usual jazz references and the details that bring the story to life. It's a book you can disappear into, you'll finish it too soon.Looking forward to the final Bosch books as this epic series come to a close??

An okay read
This book sees Renee Ballard get drafted in to manage the “Open Unsolved” unit for the LAPD. It solves open murder cases. Because the LAPD are.. looking to run the unit on the cheap, they aren’t paying volunteers who work for the unit, so Ballard pulls in her old colleague, Harry Bosch, who’s now retired. For their first case, the team investigates the murder of the sister of a Los Angeles City councillor, who had been influential in the formation of the “Open Unsolved” group. It’s your standard investigation, but Ballard and Bosch’s skills allow for it, and 2 other murders, they’re investigating. It’s not bad, as books go. It perhaps wasn’t exciting, and a little predictable, but as murder mysteries go, it was perfectly acceptable, just not going to make you think “You know what I’m going to read a bunch of other reads in this series, because of this one.”9

Bosch at his outstanding best.
It’s the little things that make Michael Connelly the best crime writer and Harry Bosch his star creation.Hopefully we may get a few more.
