So delicious!

This was absolutely fantastic. While serving in the army, I spent one year in South Korea. Tteokbokki was one of the dishes that I loved. Later, I found myself in Okinawa, Japan. I was pleased to see that some restaurants served the dish as well. Now that I’ve returned to the states for good, I wanted to find a way to have this dish again. This did the trick!First of all, it’s easy to prepare. I followed the simple instructions and it came out just as good as I imagined it could. While on the thinner side from what I remember, the rice cakes were still that chewy glutinous goodness that I remembered. From the other reviews I read, the spice and sweetness level of the sauce seems to be very subjective—dependent on one’s threshold and appeal for spice. I thought it was great. It wasn’t too spicy to me, but surely reminded me of how Korean spice tends to be spicier than average. While there was certainly a level of sweetness to the sauce, I didn’t find it overbearing at all. It only added to my appeal for the flavor. The addition of fish cakes was a very nice touch. It blows my mind how they could maintain a relatively good texture and flavor in a freeze-dried fish cake!The only con for me was that the noodles come in a single package. I didn’t want to prepare both servings, so I had to split the bundle of freeze-dried noodles in half, and put the one half in a sandwich bag. Not a big deal, but I found it odd since the rice cakes, sauce, and fish cakes came in two single-serving packets.Overall, I’m very satisfied with my purchase. I can see myself ordering some more in the near future. Tteokkbokki is something special, and this brand is able to capture it in such a pleasant way.Random tidbits:• I think I read a few reviews stating that the sauce was too watery/runny. For me, it was perfectly thick. I just want to remind people to follow the instructions. 400ml of water for both servings, so use 200ml for one. Bring that water up to a boil, add everything, and keep it boiling for a good 5 minutes! Should be a nice consistency by then. 👌🏽• I decided to take up on a review’s recommendation by adding some shredded mozzarella cheese to this dish. Not bad at all!!

The media could not be loaded. I like the texture of the rice cakes but the flavor was terrible. That is just for my taste buds. This food must be amazing for someone who is wanting a sweet fishy taste. I really tried to like it but the more I ate it, the more I grew nauseous. I feel bad cause I really want to like it.

These def hit the spot. It’s not too spicy. A quick snack and it’s filling. I added cheese and some toasted sesame seeds and perfection.

This product was great! My only problem is due to my dentures it was difficult to chew the rice cake portion of the product. Not recommended for the dental challenged.

i’ve had countless ttoebokkis and this is hands down better than any i’ve ever had in restaurants and as store boughts. The taste is amazing, has a very authentic taste. If you were to go to South Korea and buy spicy rice cake at the street food stalls, this is how u can imagine the taste would be (closest match). the rice cakes are very very chewy and fresh. it didn’t have a strong smell and cooked perfectly. the sauce is amazing and i believe would be perfect for people who don’t eat much spicy too. this tteobokki has a slight spice only. the fish cakes were really fresh too and had a good taste. the only complaint i would have for this is, altho it’s two servings, everything comes in one packet. as in the ramen is together and idk, it LOOKS like it wud be one serving. and i wish it was kind of cheaper. but i would 100% recommend this to everyone who loves spicy rice cake or wants to try some :)

The item smelled soured and had discoloration. Previous orders had been fine but this one was definitely not safe to eat

It’s more on the sweet side it’s fine but it’s not as good as I thought it was gonna be since I’ve read the reviews but it is a lot of food it’s enough for like 3 people in just one pack

Much bigger than I thought, very satisfied. Good taste, not too spicy and adding cheese is a must!

This is my favourite soup but I can usually get it for $10 but the store I buy from discontinued them. They’re double the price. So although delicious very overpriced
