Caveat: ZigBee version only fully supported by Vera for now
As far as my research has gone, this is the only smart thermostat that works with line-level fan heaters, such as in-wall Cadets, rather than just radiant floor heaters or baseboards. The downside: So far, not compatible with Wink, and there's limited support on SmartThings, but fully supported by Vera. So I can't really speak of controlling this remotely. The Z-Wave version looks to have more universal support, but is not advised to be used with fan-driven heaters. However, it's been a worthy replacement from my cheap bimetallic-strip thermostats supplied with my apartment (don't tell the landlord): The response time is fast, and in fan-driven mode, it runs in very short cycles like a PID controller rather than continuously, which has resulted in more evenly heated rooms and significant energy savings. Controls are simple from the panel; adjust the set point, or switch between Comfort/Eco/Off modes. as far as I can tell, the difference between Comfort and Eco is the frequency of the cycles, along with the default set point, which can be adjusted manually.I'm anticipating these will pay for themselves in short time. I'll just be more excited when my favorite smart home platforms support them.

Easy install and operation
I bought this about one year ago and been working so good I recently bought my second one for my other baseboard heater. It works great and it's nice (and practical) to always have the current temperature and set temperature displayed. I hooked both up to by Hubitat with no issues (using custom driver) and with that am able to get Google home support.

Tiny screen if you don't have perfect vision
The screen is really tiny, and the actual temperature setting is tiny inside that when your changing the set temp. I hate having to get out reading glasses to set the temperature on a thermostat. Its also nice if the screen was large enough to see at a distance, so really a poor u/x design choice.Setup was a little challenging and not ideal. Was a challenge to get it recognized in smartthings. Once setup its pretty good. Be nice to have an alexa skill cater to this, as the language/interaction with alexa is lmited out of the box.

Works very well with Hubitat Elevation community driver
Slow replacing all my thermostats with these. I use a Hubitat Elevation hub and bridge it into Homekit with a homebridge plugin. All are used with Cadet heaters. I almost never use the buttons on the unit so I have no comments on that front. I just create automations and rules to set the temperatures as required and don't interact with them via the front panel. I am able to track my smartphones down to specific rooms in my house, so temps are adjusted automatically based on this presence detection. I also use them in bathrooms and automatically increase temps when humidity goes above a threshold to indicate a shower is being taken. Help to dry out the bathrooms quicker, in congestion with a smart controller ceiling exhaust fan.

Watch your Wattage needs
I really wanted to like this product but it is not quite ready for prime time yet. Some of the issues I encountered were that it is only good up to 4,000 watts. If you have a room of any decent size your wattage requirements will be at least this much or more. My heater has the option to set either 3000, 4000, or 5000 watts, and this thermostat is hot to the touch when running at any of these levels.I was also disappointed with the Smartthings integration/interface. When setting temperature you need to use up or down arrows. This means if you are using it in a garage like I am and have the temp set really low when not in use, you have to hit the up/down buttons way to much to set a high or low temperature. A slider or input box would have been a much better solution.I was also disappointed with the Eco and Comfort modes that are forced on you. All I really want is a thermostat that is Zwave/Zigbee/SmartThings compatible that I can turn on and off as needed and will maintain the temp I set. If there was a way to disable these modes it would be much better. Also be sure you are getting the correct unit. They offer 3 different models. One is for baseboard heaters that do not have a fan, one is for heaters that do have a fan, and one is for your typical HVAC systems. This review is for the Zigbee model that supports heaters with a fan. I got the wrong one when ordering here.I am still looking for a better solution for my garage heating needs!!

Almost smart. Not plug and play. With work by you around 80% functional in SmartThings
If you like getting geeky to get your home automation working this is a good choice. If you're looking for a plug and play smart thermostat this isn't it. At least not yet.It takes non trivial effort and knowledge to get it to work with Samsung SmartThings Smart Home Hub. To pair it with your hub you need to install a custom device handler using the Stelpro code published on GitHub. But even then not all the features in the SmartThings app are working for me. Stelpro is responsive to questions on both GitHub and the SmartThings community forums so hopefully the remaining issues will be worked out soon.Even with all the rough edges and non-working features I bought a second one.

This Zigbee model works with heaters with fans. the Z-Wave version does not!
I owned two of the Z-Wave versions previously and was happy with them, but my new house has a fan-forced heater in the basement, and the Z-Wave one cannot be configured for a fan-forced heater. Make sure you order the Zigbee version in this case. The thermostat itself is VERY basic - just up and down temp controls. there is no built-in schedule capability at all - it depends on your home hub for scheduling. The display is small and hard to read when the backlight is off. It does display outside temp from the internet (when connected to your home hub). Overall, a functional but very basic product. Make sure there is a driver for your hub (SmartThings does not include one, but one is available through a complicated and technical process)
