Helix - Lockable Drug Cabinet - Heavy Duty Steel Safe for Prescription Drugs

I ordered this box, and the lock mechanism did not work right at all. You could put the key in, but it wouldn't turn left or right, it would jiggle a small, tiny amount and that was it. There was no way to open the box at all, received it shut, locked and unopenable. Contacted the seller via email on the sellers original website, they were amazing about it, they shipped me a brand new box. Responsive to emails, very pleased with them. In fact they shipped me the new box and a UPS label to ship them the old one back, which I still have not done, and I really need to ASAP because the seller was really cool. It's a good sturdy box, very heavy duty, a person would have to work really hard to bust this thing open. I recommend it!

Nice size. I'm not sure if it is what I would choose to keep valuables in. But it's a good deterrent to keep children out of things that are unsafe for them.

I use this smaller medication cabinet (I call it chest and will call it a chest in this review) to store our family's prescription medications. I am able to fit ~13 prescription bottles of various sizes in this chest. However, please note that it will only fit the height of standard prescription medication bottles or slightly taller; it will not fit large bottles of liquid medication such as children's tylenol. I use the  Helix Drugs Security Chest (32480)  to store my toddlers' medications as well as items that they get into such as band aids, etc.I store both of the chests side by side in a standard cabinet with an additional baby lock on it. I like that the locks for the different chests look different so I can tell them apart. I like that these chests work well and are economical. I also accidentally dropped this chest and while it broke the bone china plate on the counter below it, the chest didn't break or even bend. The paint chipped a little, but that was it.The reason that I deducted a star is that this is a very basic chest; it's not expensive and you get what you pay for. The most annoying issue is that the top doesn't stay up after I open it and constantly falls down as I'm trying to get medications out. I have to prop it up, which works, but it's an extra step that with 2 toddlers I wish I didn't have to do. And I am not sure how long the locks will actually last, how long the top will continue to smoothly open and close, etc. If you want something better made, higher quality, slightly taller, etc., I'd recommend something else. But for our budget, this meets our needs and we are currently happy with it. For anyone with the same budget/needs as us, I'd recommend both chests.

Had ordered another brand (AdirMed) which came damaged and was subsequently unavailable. Got this instead and was somewhat disappointed since it was smaller and appeared to have limited capacity. Turns out it holds quite a bit. We have 3 large containers (150 and 200 caplets) of OTC meds in it and still have enough room for numerous prescription meds. This was purchased because we have an 8 yr old grandson and didn't want the possibility that he gets curious and downs a few pills. Great peace of mind having this. It is sturdy and easy to securely mount either on a shelf or the wall.

The lock has broken on ours where the key won’t turn anymore. We bought this in August and just after the September return window. It’s failing now. Really disappointing. It’s a newer version from their older box which has been working for over 10 years. We just need a second one. The box is strong metal and it’s a lot of work. It would be great now it doesn’t serve the purpose we need it for.

Locking mechanism was assembled incorrectly. It was an easy fix, just a matter of adjusting the catch. Also, the key must be flush with constant pressure or the lock will not rotate to lock and unlock. Well built otherwise, spacious, and looks clean. Good product they just need better quality control.

This is excellent for securing typical OTC bottles and prescription meds. This size is compact so you cannot fit large, oversized bottles (taller than 5 inches) I was able to fit normal Rx vials, 100- 250 count OTC pain med bottles i.e. Tylenol, Excedrin, Ibuprofen and small allergy bottles for a total of 16 bottles. There is also room to put blister packs on top of the bottles i.e., Benadryl, Tylenol cold, etc. This cabinet does not fit in my medicine cabinet because it is too deep but it fits perfectly in my nightstand drawer. It was just what we needed. Bought this for securing travel documents, passports, airline tickets and spare cash while traveling. It's pretty well-made and meets our expectations. We looked at a similar item at a sporting goods store that was a traveling pistol-case with a lock for more $$$. This will keep our documents secure when we leave them with the hotel mgrs. safety box when we're away from the hotel.For places where there is no safe, you can take the cable and make a loop around a secure item (like a bedframe) and put the box between the mattresses after the bed is made up. Look, this thing won't stop a determined thief, if they have a hammer and a heavy screw-driver, they'll manage to crack the lock. This is just a way to keep honest people honest and will hopefully serve as a deterrant against petty theft. Cost was great, Amazon Prime delivery was great... can't beat it.

Good size for household meds. Too short for a jumbo bottle like bulk sized OTC meds or vitamin bottles but fits regular bottles and boxes fine. Would fit most Rx fine with many fitting in there. I take 10 different meds each day with varying bottle sizes plus some boxes and syringes and they would all fit.I would have preferred to use/mount it so the lid opens at the top but the lid won’t stay open that way unless you hold it. The first aid cross emblem is an optional sticker so if you want it all white you can. Lock and hinge are smooth functioning. Would make a good lock box for other items as well as it can mount on a shelf or on the wall. My family is going to use it for various OTC meds that more than one person uses so we can always find them again.
