Love this rice cooker
The flavor was better from the very first cook. The texture of rice was excellent. The clay pot surprised me that it didn’t stick. It’s a good way to keep foods warm longer being clay and having a lid. It’s a nice pot and looks good on the table. Cleans up easy. This will last a long time if you take care of it and don’t drop it. Just remember not to soak longer than 5 minutes. That’s a key factor and to let it cool before washing. It seems smaller but holds more than you think. It’s worth every penny and then some. I’ve used aroma rice pots for years and I didn’t think you could improve much on the quality. At least not enough to justify the price on more expensive rice cookers. But I was wrong. This baby improved the texture a lot and the flavor is incredible. I haven’t notice any unusual odor from the clay pot but I haven’t had it long and I’ve only cooked rice in it. I always add a tsp to a tbsp of oil or butter per cup of dry rice to my pot depending on what I’m making and that may be the reason there hasn’t been an issue with sticking.

The flavors are RICH! It works well, easy to clean, great food
The media could not be loaded. I'm addicted. I ordered a total of four, 2 we're sent as gifts, and I want one more for myself. The flavors of my rice are deep and I love eating it when it is nice and hot. I love the clay pot rice, it adds the crunch on the bottom. I am a novice and westerner to clay pot cooking but I love fresh, hot rice with deep flavors the clay provides as it traps in aroma and taste. I look forward to cooking gumbo in this! Also if you open the device while it is cooking to perhaps stir or check on your meal, the clay cooker will continue to cook and not pause/shut off.I personally LOVE this feature.Thiss device is also EASY to clean. I clean mines with baking soda and vinegar. But may switch to just baking soda because of the acidity of the vinegar. Also the device is beautiful to display, much so than their competition. Just my opinion.UPDATE: I want to order one more! Obsessed, lol.

Enjoy teflon-free rice. But button on cooker broke on first use.
I bought the new Aroma Purple Clay Pot Rice Cooker to replace an older teflon-coated rice cooker. I am avoiding teflon cooking surfaces because the health risks. The older cooker had been scratched up significantly. So I decided to try this. It did a fine job cooking white basmati rice on its maiden voyage. I think it might have taken longer to cook than the old model. I do like the clay pot. It is nice piece of pottery. And it's not any more difficult to clean than the teflon non-stick pot of the old rice cooker. But...the rice cooker sits inside an enclosed cooker. Very attractive. And there is a push button that unlatches the lid. But on first use the button proceeded to explode across the room with an over-powerful spring. I tried to reassemble it with the spring, and it just exploded again. Eventually, I figured out it doesn't need the super powerful spring at all. And it all stays held together fine. Also in unpacking this brand new unit I discovered it had been manufactured several years ago. Which just seems a little strange. It came with coupons for $1 off some Mahatma or Carolina brand rice that expired in 2022.

Not 100% Clay or Uncoated As Advertised
The item description states the clay pot is uncoated, chemical free, and non-toxic which is why I ordered it. However, I reached out to Aroma directly and it stated that the manufacturer adds spodumene to the clay which is a lithium feldspar glaze. Spodumene cannot be considered safe/non-toxic for food as lithium based glazes can have health consequences. Also, when I asked about where the pot material was sourced and whether the materials for the pot were 3rd party tested for safety (for heavy metals, etc.), the company didn't know and had to inquire with the manufacturer. If a company is going to advertise something as uncoated when it isn't and non-toxic when it doesn't know about the sourcing or quality of the materials, I can't feel confident in the safety of the product. VitaClay offers a 100% clay rice cooker and is transparent with material sourcing and goes above and beyond for safety certifications which it shares with customers so I opted for that rice cooker instead.

I didn't know rice could be so tasty!
Let me admit my bias....I am white and grew up in a very stereotypical white household of never washing the rice. That changed when I saw the rice guy on tiktok. I've been making my own sushi for about 5 years now but have been using my Arom rice and steamer. It's very nice and convenient! Works great for steaming a lot of veggies. I wanted to switch because the non stick has been worn away in some spots. Not good! I did a little research that explained the ceramic cooking method is the best! It doesn't stick like the metal pots/rice cookers do, but also doesnt have the non stick Teflon issue. When I got married about a month ago, I did it!! I'm a big girl now and splurged on this amazing rice cooker! My husband is also white and is satisfied with very little. He seriously sets the standards to a new low! BUT!!!!!! This man could actually tell the difference between our old rice cooker and the new amazing ceramic cooker! (No I did not specifically ask him or lead him to his answer.)Overall, I love this rice cook! My sushi is so much better with it! I really notice my wild rice coming out a lot softer and more flavorful since making the switch. I look forward to trying new recipes.Thank you Aroma! - from The Newly Weds
