Scream VI - Blu-ray
Six films in and the ‘Scream’ franchise can still entertain and pull together enough fun set-pieces and gore to feel like there remains life in it yet.A year after ‘Scream 5’, Sam and Tara (Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega) are living in New York City, trying to get on with life after the second Woodsboro massacre. But life in a ‘Scream’ movie isn’t that simple, and before long a new Ghostface is stalking them. But THIS Ghostface isn’t going to play by the same rules in the big city…but with everyone a suspect and a possible victim…what is this new killer’s plan?To have a ‘Scream’ movie set in a huge city ramps up the sense of tension and fun, and the new cast seems much more into their roles this time around (Barrera in particular is much stronger) while the mayhem erupts. Series stalwart Courteney Cox’s Gale Weathers gets her biggest sequence in years and rises to the occasion and the strangest thing of all is the realisation the absence of Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott isn’t really noticed……The plot does by the end stretch credulity though, and it’s kind of hard to believe some of the contrivances required once the grand unmasking takes place…..but the energy of the film does just about let it get away with it thanks to some of the biggest and most elaborate set-pieces yet created.Extras are slight but fine. There’s a commentary with the directors/writers and then a group of featurettes covering some behind the scenes production with cast and crew. All fine, but one watch stuff.

Tries too hard
Scream 6 isn't half as clever as it tries to be. The New York setting is little more than window-dressing. I was really impressed with the last effort, so had high hopes for this.Sadly, it's all a bit of a mess. Gale Weathers flits between her bitchy Scream 2 persona, yet shows heart in a scene with Melissa Barrera's Sam. This is jarring, considering how emotionally resonant she was last time around. Every main character gets stabbed - multiple times in some cases - and this really undermines the tension, giving you the sense that these characters are mere tokens being moved around a board. The opener is average too; whilst Samara Weaving is brilliantly goofy, the 'shock' reveal is anything but. There is some great interplay between the 'core-four' from the last movie, but ultimately it all falls a little flat. The killer(s) reveal is also dull, and you really need to have seen the last entry to have any sense of what's going on. That said, there's some effective kills. If I was to rate the franchise in order of greatness, my personal preference would be:Scream (1996)Scream 2 (1997)Scream (2022)Scream 3 (2000)Scream IV (2023)Scream 4 (2011)

Impressive sequel to the first
I have watched all the Scream movies and one and four are my favourites but this was good to see, another well made scream movie from the setting to characters, and how it makes it thrilling and all the twist and turns in the story make watching so much more interesting

Scream VI
Love Scream movies but not so keen on this one as some characters who should be killed (or seriously injured) walk away as if only scratched! Still a good addition to the franchise.

It's a not bad watch 🤔🤔🤔
The things I like about the film was it still ran on the same basis of all the other scream films the downside was it got very predictable what was going to happen towards the end ;which does annoy me a little bit that I can tell what's going to happen before it happens!!!
