I got this doll for my 5 year-old niece for when she is at my house, which is nearly all the time. She has her own bedroom in my house, stocked with plenty of toys.She is also diagnosed as autistic, has ADHD, and OCD. Also has a tactile disorder, and is diagnosed as moderately non-verbal (she can say a few words, but cannot put more than 1-2 words together, and almost never speaks cohesive verbiage).And because of that, I thought this doll might be a perfect companion for her.I was very impressed with the fact that this doll speaks more than 75 different phrases and tunes....something I myself have never seen in any other talking doll/toy. Nothing that even comes close to approaching that number of programmed intrinsic words, phrases and songs.And we aren't just talking about one or two-word phrases....this doll says so many longer sentences, phrases and tunes.I also love that this doll is made by a woman-owned company. I did some research on this company after I received the doll, as I was intrigued.This doll, "Vera the Vet", is one in an entire line of girl empowered STEM dolls. They are focused around STEM-based careers that were traditionally made up of men, and were heavily encouraged for men/ young men to pursue, with very limited representation from women.While there has been massive progress in those sectors over the past 80+ years, especially over the past two decades...there's still gaps and inequities for females in the STEM-based sectors when it comes to wages, opportunities, and lack of encouragement directed at girls and women that have an interest and/or aptitude in these fields.With all that said...these dolls are more than just some typical talking toy. They are a creative interactive friend geared towards young girls that encourage an interest in different STEM-based professions. In this case; a veterinarian.The aesthetics of this doll are unique and fun. It is very nice quality, the stitching is perfect, and the material is very durable. So this doll will last for many years, even with the roughest of play.She comes with an adorable stethoscope and removable lab coat.Heck, even the packaging/box it comes in is unique and beautiful! Excellent presentation.My niece instantly loved it and plays with it all the time when she's here. And it's been helpful for her vocabulary building, as she will sometimes try to repeat some of the words and is able to accurately pronounce a few of them.This doll is a perfect gift for any child, but especially for those with certain learning disabilities, or a child that loves animals and is interested in veterinary medicine.I plan on buying some of the other dolls in this line when I am able to.Worth every penny. I definitely recommend!!!

First, this is a very nice doll. She's all-soft and does not stand up on her own but seems very well-made. She says many educational things, but when her batteries run down they are a bit hard to change and require a small screwdriver. Her stethoscope does not actually fit her head, which is unfortunate. And while I love the fact that she's part of a STEM line from a woman and minority-owned company, I wish she was something other than blue-eyed and blond. Veterinary medicine is one of the 'whitest' professions around and we really need to attract more diverse representation (I am a vet). If this doll were representing a minority it would have been even more awesome. Dear manufacturer: consider adding a Black and/or a Hispanic vet doll to your line. I would so buy those!

This doll arrived in a very nice, pretty box. The box itself is well designed and eye catching. The doll is soft bodied and cute. It arrives with a battery installed...you'll just need to unzip the compartment, pull the tab and turn the switch to "on". When the hand is pressed she says different things about science and animals. The lab coat is removable. Good idea but, in my opinion, most 2 year olds and some 3 year olds won't be able to fully appreciate everything this doll has to offer. It is something that will grow with the kids.

This is a very cute doll. It's very soft and sparkly. I like that it's talking doll too. My granddaughter always enjoys hearing and learning new words, so this is helpful for that. It comes in a nice package, that shows exactly what it does. The only design flaw, is the battery pack could be more discreet. Once my granddaughter seen the zipper, she tries to constantly unzip it now. Other than that it's a nice toy for keeping that little one entertained. Not a bad price either.
