An engaging read.
It took me a while to get into this book but then I was anxious to see how it all turned out. I did like the character of Lady Virtue Walcot, she had spirit and determination. I wasn’t sure at first, of Trevor Hunt, Duke of Ridgely, particularly how he treated Virtue, as she was his ward. He did redeem himself later. Both Virtue and Trevor had been affected by their past experiences with their parents. There is also the mystery as to who is trying to kill Trevor and why. I enjoyed the appearances of previous characters like Logan Sutton. This was a very steamy but engaging read. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved it
Loved Trevor and Virtue's age gap story of attraction, passion and ultimately love. Virtue is a headstrong, independent bluestocking who loves to read. Her father all but abandoned her to Greycote Abbey where her only family were the Abbey's servants and her beloved books. A place where she felt loved and safe. On her father’s death everything change and she was forced to leave the only home she had ever known for London to live as the ward of Trevor, Duke of Ridgely. This starts of duel of wits and attraction where good intentions and duty war with temptation, attraction and passion. This story is full of everything and plenty of steam. Happy reading.

Lecherous 30yr old duke inherits friend's silly 20yr old daughter as his ward and seduces her!
A lecherous 30yr old duke inherits his 40yr old friend's 20yr old daughter as his ward. He, immediately, has his head up her dress and within the week sets about seducing her. His ward has come from the country and is very childish. She has been neglected by her father and only had his servants for friends. She spends her time reading bawdy stories. The duke has appeared in previous stories about the Sutton family and their gambling hells. He is an ex-member of The Guild, a small group of spies, who worked for Whitehall, led by Archer Tierney. Logan Sutton, also, appears. There are two inept attempts on the duke's life and Archer and Logan's heavies are supposed to be guarding him. One of whom is Beast, who was a guard at the Sutton's East End club. He seems to spend his time in the arms of the duke's widowed sister, who, obviously, likes a bit of rough. The story is madder and more illogical than the rather obvious villain! The murder plot is overwhelmed by the sex scenes between Trevor and Virtue (ha, ha)!

For effort.
What a ridiculous story. Shallow, boringly overly salacious juvenile. A complete waste of time. I will most certainly not be reading any other books from this author.

Excellent way to begin a new series!
Her Ruthless Duke is the first book in the Rogue’s Guild series by Scarlett Scott. I have been in a Sutton’s conclusion hangover ever since Logan’s story concluded that amazing series. Her Ruthless Duke not only ended my ennui, but it also catapulted me into historical romance heaven!Trevor Hunt, the Duke of Ridgely, is an unrepentant rogue and ruthless ex-spy. Lady Virtue Walcot upends Trevor’s world when she becomes his ward. Trevor must deal with his troubling, alluring ward while trying to find out who is trying to kill him. The trouble really does come when these two turbulent souls’ relationship evolves from annoyance to passion.Trevor and Virtue are vivid, lively, captivating characters. They fight with tenacity for what is between them, but when they fail, the pages turn to fire! My favorite part of the book is the back-and-forth bantering between the guardian and the ward. Virtue can annoy Trevor like no one else; she can also stir emotions Trevor thought he didn’t have. This sensual, emotionally explosive romance was excellent at all levels. The plot was paced perfectly and was intriguing and passionate. The writing was elegant, and even with an intriguing mystery, this is a character-driven plot. I invested one hundred percent into Trevor and Virtue’s adventurous journey. I now have a new Scarlett Scott series to obsess over! I am eagerly waiting for Pamela’s story in Her Dangerous Beast! Scarlett Scott, as usual, has delivered passionate romance perfection! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Her Ruthless Duke is a lovely story.
I so enjoyed meeting with Trevor and Virtue. This was a lovely regency romance that was very warm. But I did not see the twist that came, and I hardly ever do that. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I did.
