Nightwing Vol. 4: Second City (The New 52)

A little disappointed...
I'm an avid fan of the New 52 Nightwing series, but I found that this one didn't fall into the standards as the other ones did. The artwork's great and everything, but the storyline lacked and it wasn't as gripping and interesting as I thought it would be. For the people who have read the previous volume, a certain character pops up at the very end and he's the main reason for Grayson's location in this volume. You hope it to be quite an interesting face-off, but that's certainly not what happens. Instead, it's all political and focuses more on the villain of the volume and the goings-on of the area he's in than Nightwing himself.I hope that the next volume will move away from this area and get back on track because it'd be a shame for a great hero to fall in such a way.

Second City and not yet Second Rate...but...
I read a library copy of the paperback.By this point Nightwing’s days are numbered.Soon to be revamped out of the costume Dick Grayson is seen here trying a new start in a new city and meeting a new support cast whilst battling a new/seen-it-before villain. The underlying plot links to the character’s origin and drives the storyline. The support cast are sassy and wise-cracking, the villain is unhinged and maniacal, the art is clean crisp and accomplished. It’s just a bit tired.I have been a fan of Nightwing’s since he first appeared and if you’ve liked any previous Nightwing adventures you’ll have no problems enjoying this one…because you have seen it all before really.
