I love this gun!
Amazing gun! I really dig the whole set up all around. Definitely been using the depth setter adjustment, the aluminum nail track is super awesome. It works well with shooting 10 penny nails while nailing out sheathing. The nails never overlap or hasn't jammed up on me. Overall, it's a great gun to buy if your doing industrial level framing because this gun will go all day! My only gripe is it comes with the 1/4" male plug hose fitting which is pretty standard I guess but my work uses the 3/8" air hose fittings.

Great Framing nailer
Love the 21 degree Hitachi, metabo guns. All I have ever used over the last 32 years of framing. Its the industry standard for framers in Phoenix Arizona. One bad thing is I purchased a return. 200 bucks ,Now the guns is great, but did not come with the depth adjustment. I already have a few of these guns brand new, but needed one with a depth adjustment for nailing shear. Some one must have purchased multiple guns, and put a gun with no depth adjustment in this box and sent it as a return. I will just keep it for my crew I guess, but now I need to purchase another one with a depth adjustment . Kinda pissed me off.

The Best Framing Nailer Ever Made
Not the old hitachi NR82a2 but with the trigger plunger mod it is just like it and a little bit lighter.

Not like the original
Not as good as the original nr83. Feels much heavier and the handle is thicker. Makes for a tired arm after a couple hours of use. The rafter hook would have been a great feature. I had to buy one and drill the track to get it to fit.

So goid my grandkids will use it long after I’m gone.
This is a bad boy! It was if it wanted to pound some sinkers right out of the box. Smooth easy loading. Ran it at 80 psi and it drove plenty hard into yellow pine. Framing and sheathing were a breeze. This is no lightweight. Must admit, at 63 my shoulders aren’t what they used to be. Framing wasn’t bad because of set-up before studs and headers, but sheathing (vertical plywood) shot in with 2” ring shanks caused me to tale some breaks. The gun could handle it all day long. Had two jambed, but they were my fault. I released the keeper and it slammed into the back of the nails cracking the clip. The broken plastic clip allowed the nails to jamb at the head. Just needed to be a little less aggressive on the release. If I needed another, I would buy again. I have a strong feeling this one may outlive my grandkids!

My favorite
I am a framer. All day everyday. This gun is great. It operates like a quality tool. It’s great for sheeting too as you can set the depth right on the nose and I like how the adjustment wheel has little clicks you can feel so you have an idea for the depth. It’s very heavy… well it’s more heavy then the NR90 gun…. Which I completely hate but every one else likes.

Best Framing gun out there!
I went with this Nr83a5 due to their perceived reliability of previous models. I don’t like to cheap out on my tools due to the fact that they’re the ones you rely on to make money! The gun has worked flawlessly since I’ve had it, doing projects such as framing and some small house repairs. I know it will stand the test of time!
