Oddly useful.
UPDATE:I'm using it right now, standing in my living room. I'm using a bluetooth keyboard and have my phone raised via a mount that clamps to the desk. Also a "finger mouse" is tied to my right middle finger. I realize this all may seem weird, but the thing is it works well as an extremely portable writing/editing station. Mostly for edits actually, since I prefer to write first drafts via dictation/transcription. But anyway, it's been a week or so and I still love this desk-dingus. I usually leave the rubber-ish cover off to improve my mouse's behavior, and it's not really necessary even when the entire desk is covered by my laptop, but YMMV. Overall, this was a good buy.-------------------------The oddest thing is that I never thought of this. I hate sitting while I work. In the past I've built myself a treadmill desk, I've used Dragon software to dictate while walking around with my phone...I've done all kinds of stuff. The CAD works okay with my laptop. Note to self: next time out buy a laptop with more space between the base and the keyboard, and without a numeric pad (don't use that most days), or maybe put something like pipe insulation on the CAD to give a bit more space. Hands are a bit cramped when typing. Fortunately I mostly dictate rather than type.Works very very well with my AlphaSmart Neo. That's a lightweight word-processor/keyboard with a very small screen. I can shove the Neo way forward on the desk for comfortable typing. And wander around. Beats the heck out of a treadmill desk at that point.Works semi-okay with my phone and folding Bluetooth keyboard. I end up putting the phone next to my body in landscape mode and putting the keyboard forward...which is actually pretty comfy for typing, but maybe I'll rig some sort of phone holder dingus. Or buy one? Maybe there's one for sale somewhere in the Amazon weeds. I mean, this thing was availale, right? So, maybe.I'd like this to be a bit bigger than it is. Of course, I can just make my own flat surface and reuse the straps. But with the right device(s), this goofy little wonder is going to be perfect.Buy one. {8'>

Works well despite massive geek factor
Am using this with a Lenovo Yoga and Bluebeam Revu for a month long field assessment and inventory project. It works great. I am able to collect data, make annotations, and take pictures easily with this setup. It is compact enough to fit in my laptop bag easily. I can use both hands to take pictures and open cabinets without putting the PC down. Sure, it is not "cool". Not. At. All. But it is an ergonomic blessing that increased my productivity at least 30%. REALLY glad I bought this.

More like 4.5, just due to the coolness of it, and the "duh"-ness of the concept!
Well, this was exactly what I was imagining, and knew HAD to exist...incredibly, there's only one other brand, which looked possibly even better than this, but for some reason is limited to certain specific computer models. So this was it! I figured there had to be a simple way to make laptops truly portable, so that you weren't stuck in one spot while using them. Brilliant invention! (Soon as I finally get an iPhone, I'm going to attach a fold-up keyboard--maybe a mouse if I can--and put it on this thing, like the lightest laptop there is!)I enjoy this nifty little thing...mainly, I use it to walk on the the treadmill, because multitasking is ever so important to me. If I can do more than one thing at a time, I do. No reason you can't get more exercise while reading, writing, etc.! Yes, there's a lip on the console that can hold papers, books, and laptops, but in the interest of keeping this brand-new machine in perfect condition, I didn't feel like tilting it into that thing and having it rest against the vibrating console. Not that that's harmful, but eh, I just didn't want to do it anymore. Plus, as mentioned, I sought true portability! It's well-made, and I've not yet felt any danger of it breaking or failing. The rubber surface Velcroed across the desk does a good job of keeping the computer in place. You adjust the straps to get the right fit/tautness, height, and angle for your maximum comfort--preferably with the desk empty.Of course it's also great for holding books or paper and clipboards so you can stand/walk and write without finding something on which to set the paper, or awkwardly using your hand. Pretty much anything you'd need to carry around in your hands to use, indoors or out, can be placed upon it for greatly increased convenience. Obviously you can't flip a comp into "tablet" mode on it (and see it), but that's not a problem. So what are the cons? Well, for one thing, it's...small. I knew that I was dreaming when I pictured something that could hold the comp in front of me with a mousepad and some sort of portable charger, and perhaps other little miscellany, next to it. I have a wee 3-lb, 13" Lenovo IdeaPad, and it is slightly larger than this desk. It's held perfectly, but I haven't tried it with any of my family members' considerably bigger and heavier computers. I would imagine that they'd be more unwieldy and start getting painful a lot more quickly. And that's the other thing...after a while, you really wish there were a way to remove the pressure from the front shoulder straps. Pulling down on them relieves it, but how to keep them in such a position?! Think, think, think. I doubt trying to pin them would do any good. The straps are padded (sliding rubber), so perhaps putting on more/thicker layers would help a bit? What it needs is a support that supports itself. Meh, I'll keep pondering that. Also, the diagonal strap supporting the desk frequently messes with my camera memory card, which protrudes from my device's side. Every machine is configured so differently, however, that I can't really call that an oversight.Really, though, it's worth a solid 4 stars because I'm not sure that they could have made it as perfect as my idealized vision (I'm *always* having those, and reality rarely lives up.) It IS the closest thing to what I had pictured, it's swell, and frankly I can't believe that I had to go searching for it...how are they not more common already?

Works as intended, unfortunate poor design.
Pro's:Looks just like the picture, is VERY sturdy and I can tip the board quite a bit and the laptop doesn't slide because their grip mat is very good.Con's:Waaaaaay too close to my body for me to type comfortably. I feel like a t-rex typing. It makes typing difficult and for me, pretty much impossible. Even with my gut. Just look at the picture, and put your hands where his are, air-type, and you will see what I mean.No room for a mouse. I knew this going in and purchased the finger mouse that Amazon suggested. Between the limited space on the wrist-wrest of the laptop and again, the weird angle, this became useless.Laptop screen flips backwards. See how there is no support for the laptop screen? For those of us with convertible laptops (that become tablets), this means I had to wrap my straps around the rear of the screen just to keep it from flopping backwards. Gravity sucks.Extra Info: I received a little note saying that if I did a video and posted it in youtube and let them know, I would win another desk. I did so, but never received it.3 Stars because it IS as advertised, I can't fault them for me buying what they sold, I just wish they put a little more thought into design... maybe a slide-out area for the mouse, or something to push it farther away from my body; then I could actually use it.
