Works well on deep stairs giving a half step experience
This is a wonderful device and it works well in allowing a shallower step experience on steep stair. The upright to base plate joint is a little less sturdy than I’d like. It works better going up than down but I can’t see a way around this, maybe extending the length of the plate for the downward action but then this may get in the way for the upward action. On the whole a life saver as where my stairs are doesn’t allow for a lift!

Disappointing as faulty item doesn't fit together
As a mobility aid this item should be tested before dispatch. I'm so disappointed as it looked a good design. How can it be sent like that without being checked first. The pole just did not fit into the base at all.

Game changer!
I was struggling getting up the stairs due to muscle weakness. This step cane is a game changer. I can now manage the stairs using less effort. Sometimes the simplest of things work.

Wouldn’t be without it
Not very well made for the money, but having said that it does the job. I was dreading staying at my daughters for 2 weeks. This has made my stay easier. No need to do a bad review about it not fitting together properly, just send it back and get another one, simples !!!! Not difficult to put together 2 pieces of stick not rocket science

This works!
After a replacement hip operation this was great to help me negotiate stairs again.

Useless
This item is for people who have knee pain/disability. Therefor it would make sense that the cane part of the 'step' should be able to take quite a bit of pressure while the person needing to use it bears down on the handle and a bannister to assist in climbing. When you do this the step flips up making it, for me, impossible to get my foot on it. I've tried just using the cane to lift it up each step and use the bannisters for 'pulling' and taking weight off my legs, but it's cumbersome and doesn't work well. A simple design change would make a big difference if the cane went through the step and met the floor rather than stop at the step this wouldn't be an issue. I do have severe knee arthritis so maybe this would work for someone who doesn't need as much weight bearing support when climbing, but sadly didn't work for me.

It has to be built and the pieces don’t fit together.
I bought two. In both cases a screw was missing and anyway I couldn’t put the “cane” into the step because there was a lump of metal in the way.I should be able to use the steps without the cane part as I only need help going upstairs but I am very disappointed.
