The Playlist: A Spicy Friends to Lovers Romance (Springbrook Hills Series)

I'm new to reading books again after years of feeling like I couldn't focus on reading. I absolutely love anything Taylor Swift related and this book had exactly that! It had me crying at cute references and smiling like an idiot at a fictional romance.The spicy scenes were perfect to me and the right amount for the book! Even had me blushing a few times while reading this at the gym while walking on the treadmill 😅If it wasn't for tik tok, I wouldn't have found this book and I'm so glad I did 😁❤️ Highly recommend ❤️

Are you a Swiftie? Have you been looking for a great Taylor Swift-themed book?Then this book is perfect for you.The main character is a huge Swiftie, each chapter is a different Taylor song, and there are subtle hints only a Swiftie would understand.As for the actual story, it was wonderful.I read it in 24 hours because I couldn't put it down.Zoe was a character with so much room for growth at the start of the book, but by the end, she had become such an incredible woman!Zander was such a wonderful guy! The things he does for Zoe through this book to try and prove his love for her are things I wish. guy would do for me!This is the last book In the Springbrook Hills series so there was one spoiler for a couple of features earlier on in the series. So if you want to avoid that then make sure to read all the books first. (Unlike me who just wanted to jump to the Taylor Swift one)The relationship between the characters is beautifully written. Not just the romantic relationship but the platonic relationships. They all feel real and true.The pacing of this book was great, whenever It felt like it was starting to slow down a bit too much something happened and it started up again.This book is spicy but it's not too bad. You can tell if a scene is about to get spicy so if you don't feel comfortable reading that then you can skip over it.The one thing I didn't like was how rushed the ending felt. There were a few chapters that had very large time jumps between them all, and I know that it was to show the ending that Zoe and Zander get but I feel like maybe a novella just for them or a set of novellas with one focusing on each couple in the series.This book was really great and I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I really really wanted to love this book. The storyline and synopsis really made me want to love it. Now don’t get me wrong I love Zander and all the supporting characters, but Zoe was just so unbearable. I wasn’t going to finish the book, but I was just on autopilot skimming the book just for the sake of finishing it.All throughout, it references how Zoe used to be fun but now she is a type A control freak. Okay that’s fine, but was it necessary to have whole chapters overthinking everrrrrryyy little thing.Zander made his intentions, wants and desires clear as soon as he had the chance. But Zoe is what, 30, and acting like a teenager to call her friends to discuss what he said??? Her whole character arc is “this isn’t what grown ups do” while also living out a romance bucket list from when she was 12…

Wow!! The title to this review says it all, I had a smile on my face most of the way through. It’s been a while since I read a friends to lovers and it was just what I needed. The Taylor Easter eggs the whole way through were just perfection. This book is a must if you love Taylor and romance books. It was the perfect balance of romance and spicy scenes too. Do not be fooled by Mr Romance himself Zee 😍To top it off the trigger warning in the epilogue is such an amazing touch by the author. Someone who truly gets her readers - well done!I’ll be thinking of this for a while especially as I listen to Taylor x

If you want feel good, childhood friends to lovers set the the soundtrack of Taylor Swift this book has you covered in spades ❤️I was in a bit of a slump and picked this up just to get me out and I read it in a day!Zoe and Zander are right people wrong time until they’re not and with a little help from Taylor, a road trip and a bucket list you find yourself in this sweet little love story ❤️

Loved this book. I'm a swiftie so this book is one of my favs. There’s so many taylor references.

My stepdaughter wanted this buying for her. So she was very happy with it.

I get the appeal of the idea, but I have less trouble believing in unicorns than in this story

This is so cute and fun. I’m not a Swiftie and I still loved this. I don’t usually like spice but the spice is not gratuitous. I didn’t get all the Taylor references but I think that would be really fun for Swifties. I do love a second chance romance and a “just get out of your own way and be happy vibe”, so this definitely hit for me. Great characters, trope-y but in a charming, well-written way. Delivered exactly as promised and winsomely so. Will definitely read more from Morgan Elizabeth.

How is this book both nostalgic and swoony at the same time?!?!?!The book, combined with the playlist take the elements of your first love and your adult love and meld them together into this big warm hug that wraps around you.I read this book in almost 1 sitting entirely (and yes, this mom of 3 who has all 3 kids home to watch during March Break is exhausted from staying up past my bedtime!) Reading, and singing and squealing over how damn perfect this book was. The absolute *perfect* way that these songs and these words all just flowed. The attention to detail in every single word of this book was so evident, the care and thought that has obviously gone into this book was so seen and appreciated.Let's chat Zee and Zoe. Best friends brother, unrequited childhood crushes (kinda), right person/wrong time. Everything Zee did, he did with purpose, with intention and with so much love. I just LOVED the line "I know you better than I know myself". He is quite literally the gold standard of book boyfriends. All other men should be measured by Zee. And yes, I have given my husband of 9 years (together for 12) an insane amount of shit for not knowing my complicated coffee order off the top of his head, like Zee does for Zoe.And Zoe, our people pleasing, overthinking, complicated Queen. Always so in her head, always so afraid. As a reader, with dual POVs it was so satisfying to see all the signs she was missing, all the obvious gestures Zee was making.These two were a real journey of a lifetime. It was both sunshiney, while also making them fight and work for their relationship- which is OH SO satisfying. But it was also so sexy, their chemistry was off the charts and seeing them really bring the healthiest, most mature versions of themselves out of one another.Honestly, I could gush about this book for DAYS (and I probably will!). BUT the TLDR review is:Taylor Fans will be absolutely unhinged over this book because of the easter eggs, swoon factor and how Morgan brought the songs all together to weave a whole ass story.Non-Taylor fans will love this for the heart-melting, spicy story of two people who have always been end game, but until now, has always been bad timing.
