Amazing book but did anyone else spot the very bad maths??
First of all this book is amazing, it has so much information about the film, the design process, the production, characters, extras like posters, stickers and ID cards. There is so much to be gleaned from it to add to what we already know from the film. Its worth every penny spent on it and I read it in a couple of hours it was that interesting. There is an abundance of knowledge within the covers and its beautifully presented.HOWEVER............I cannot be the only person to spot the glaringly obvious bad maths!!! If you haven't spotted it by the time you read to the end of the book go back through and look at page 24, page 108 and then use the dates from the film. Its stupidly bad maths that made me chuckle to wonder how no one spotted it sooner. Mako d.o.b 23rd April 2003, first Kaiju attack 2013, Tokyo event where Mako meets Stacker Pentecost 2016, the film opens in 2020 and flashes forwards to 2025. This makes Mako 22 years old at the time of the final battle. The book lists Mako's age at the time of the Tokyo attack as 4 years of age..........now work it out yourself.

Pacific Rim: Man, Machines & Monsters.
Unsurprisingly, a book published to accompany a film about giant robots fighting equally giant monsters has turned out to be a really terrific example of how to make a good “Art of “ book.Guillermo Del Toro (who contributes a written introduction) has also included his own input of art work in this exemplary volume packed full of concept design, character, costume, creature and Mec (okay, Jaeger) design; there are initial sketches, digital realisations, storyboards and CGI modelling illustrations together with multiple stills from the film. The design of the book itself is interesting: a quality hardback, glossy pages with tipped-in notes and blueprints for the director's ideas, the Jaeger specifications and a few more things besides.A great book to have for anyone interested in Sci-fi film design or as an item to study if you just enjoyed the film.

AKA The art and making of Pacific Rim
OK, I'll admit I really enjoyed the movie the material for this book is culled from.I also really like the book. The material is well presented, detailed and varied. You get design artwork and sketches, production paintings, set photos and a lot of information about the Kaiju, Jaegers and characters/actors.There are interviews and quotes from many of the production staff as well as fictional biographies of the Jaegers and Kaiju. In addition there is a lot of supplementary material gum glued to the interior book pages. ID cards, sketchbook pages, even stickers and inside the back of the book a folder with propaganda posters for the defense corps. All of which really immerses the reader in the movie production.I'd say this is one of the best merchandising books for a movie I've seen. Up there with the ones published by Weta. In terms of the printing and binding it's solid, with thickish gloss stock and sharp, bright printing.

A beautiful, if typical, coffee-table book
Plenty of good, high-quality images. Very little in the way of explanatory text, but this is usual for the genre; if you're looking at this book for in-depth info, it will not deliver. This is a book to look at, not to read, and for that purpose it is excellent. Quality content, an interesting mix-up of concept work, photography, CG and film stills. My only real complaint is the removable inserts drive me crazy. They pop up once every four or five pages. I don't like taking these things out of the book as they could get lost, but that means I'm left picking something up off the floor every few seconds as it drops out while I flick through the pages. It wouldn't be a bad idea to invest in a thin cardboard folder to store the additional content in.-Ash

Cancel the apocalypse
Well it may be 3 years after the release of the film Pacific Rim but this book is a wonderful companion piece to the film and takes you a step closer to the design and production of pacific rim with some really cool additions of ID cards blu prints of the jaegers and best of all 2 fold out posters of art work form the film, one a reproduction of the comic con 2012 promo poster and a really cool design for the Russian propaganda against the Kaiju menace, can't wait to get these framed and have them displayed, a really worth while purchase from a book supplier and less than £10 great amazing value.

Guillermo Del Toro's attention to details is awesome
First off I was a little surprised when I got this book as it follows the Vault books and includes little bonus items throughout. Anyway Guillermo Del Toro's films are known for there attention to detail and this book certainly shows the details behind the designs for the robots and monsters and sundry other behind the scenes designs and trivia. I was so impressed with this book I poured through every page upon receiving it (a rare thing indeed.)I haven't seen the film yet so I can't comment more. I'm off to the IMAX to see it later this week and if the book is anything to go by it will be amazing....

Just as good as the movie.
Just like the movie this book is big, colourful and fun. Got the first book for my son and after a quick look I decided to get one for myself. Its packed with all the things you would find on a good "special features" found on a blue ray or DVD. Contains little fun extras like cards, stickers and two really large posters in a neat envelope on the inside of the back cover. If you have seen the film and you liked it like I did I promise you will not be disappointed. Great price from Amazon.
