These wooden dowels/sticks by HOSSIAN arrive in a slim cardboard box. In the box there are twenty very nicely smoothed/sanded 6mm diameter dowels that are each 25.5cm long. The ends have been very cleanly cut at what appears to be a precise 90° cut. Also I found the dowels to be generally very straight indeed, with only a couple that were very fractionally bent (but actually the straightness of the dowels is really impressive). The manufacturer states that the wood used is Birch wood which is a hardwood with a very nice pale appearance.The product is marketed primarily for crafting and I think that's a very appropriate. However I was interested to see that the only descriptive text on the box was specifically indicating that the rods are for diffusers. Now I am no expert but I must say that my understanding about which type of wood is best for (essential oil) diffusers I would say that softwoods are more suitable (such as pine, cedar etc.), but I may be wrong. Anyway, that's not what we will be using these dowels for anyway but I thought it worth mentioning that the info on the box says, "For best performance of your diffusers, change the reeds each time you change your diffuser oil." - it does not mention 'crafts'.My wife does a lot of crafting projects and will certainly find these high quality, well machined dowels ideal, especially where a firm smooth support is needed that is also very lightweight. She quickly made a Union Jack flag which can be seen in the photos but she commented that the dowels would be ideal support for decorative scrolls etc. She also said that the wood takes colour really well and with the Birch being a very pale colour then the colour hues stay nice and vivid - she tried acrylic pens, which worked well and again this can be seen in the photos. The hardwood will work well with a glue gun or strong craft glue. I also may have some uses for them for my smaller DIY jobs (although I reckon the dowels will already have been 'adopted' by my wife before I get my hands on them!).Initially I did think that the price of around £6 was a little on the expensive side but having examined the dowels and seen how impressive their finish is then I think that the price is about right. If the dimensions of these dowels fit your project/crafting requirements I think you'll be very pleased with their quality.

These wooden dowels are so versatile it’s fantastic!! I have used these for so many craft projects including wands, supports for EVA swords and even just a tool to hold something else while it’s being painted!!!They are so sturdy, super high quality and definitely great value for money!!

Not really an awful lot I can say about these apart from saying they are wooden dowels and great for crafting. Happy to recommend them, they are what they say and would be handy for loads of different uses.

These dowels arrive in a cardboard box with the company's logo printed on it. They're kinda jammed in the box tight, although they arrived in perfect condition. All 20 dowels measure in at 25.5 mm plus or minus half a mm, so the tolerance on the length is decent. The thickness is also consistent enough for a set of wooden dowels, they measure anywhere from 5.90 mm to 6.10 mm.I can't complain about the finish, they’re all uniformly coloured, smooth and straight, so you can use them right away without having to clean them up. They feel very strong, and you could quite easily use these to reinforce 3D prints or woodworking projects. Holding the dowels at each end I loaded them up with 2.5 kg of weight, and they held up just fine, they began to bend a little, but they bounced back after removing the weight.The price at £5.99 is pretty good considering these are pre-cut to 25.45 cm lengths and are finished well. You’re getting 5 metres of 6 mm birch dowels. If you never expect to need a longer than 25.45 cm length, these are super affordable and convenient to store. You could in theory buy this cheaper in longer lengths from a hardware store at £1 a metre but paying an extra pound for pre-cut lengths seems fair in my opinion.

This pack of 20 dowels are superb quality. They measure 25.5 cm long with a 6mm diameter and are perfect for the crafting cupboard. They can be used for numerous crafts, Christmas trees , Easter flags, macrame or even rockets, which we made, with paper mache over the top :) Great quality and good colouring all the way through the pack, so easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. There are no nicks or splits in the dowels, making them safe for children to craft with, without fear of splinters and they can be painted too. Fantastic set of dowels from a fantastic and well renowned company. I love their packaging, very eco and earthy :) Brilliant!!!

I’ve found these great for tiered cakes, they are commonly used to to support towers and stop the top layers sliding off. These are a little thinner than others, this gives a little less support but they are also easier to insert and don’t split your cake when you’re inserting them. The wood is nice and clean and odourless and doesn’t affect the taste of your cakes. I was happy to use these and felt they did a good job.
