What do I love about OUR WORLD INDIA by Meera Sriram? EVERYTHING!First of all, the illustrations are bold and bright - the colors of India - but also, the colors that engage a toddlers eyes and attention!Second, each page contains text that is simple, relatable to very young children, and bilingual - with fun sound words and actions to encourage little ones to interact with the story.Third, as we turn the pages, a day in the life of a child of India unfolds - joyfully and authentically.I'm a huge fan of this OUR WORLD series - and OUR WORLD INDIA is a welcome addition to every preschool library and home bookshelf.As a former kindergarten and Head Start teacher, I highly recommend this series!

The book is inappropriate to teach children about India (esp. if they live abroad). For example the book highlights a bucket shower as the norm, cows on street and saree as the only attire, while avoiding to showcase the diversity in the country. A child forms opinions early in age and such a book will wrongly impact their understanding of the country and its culture. It's sad to see this book being written by an Indian, but lacking all the actual essence of the topic of the book.
