Jim Harold’s Campfire: True Ghost Stories Paperback – September 15, 2011

I have had the pleasure to listen to Jim's podcast Campfire for quite some time now and I am a fan. The quality of the show and his story selections make the program both respectful and fun. It obvious to anyone that Jim truly cares about the weekly product he puts out.His book, Jim Harold's Campfire: True Ghost Stories is no different. Jim has crafted the work to have that podcast feel, but still reminds you that you a reading something special. The stories he has chosen are grouped into categories which allows you read the type of tale you want, when you want it. They are written with care and remain true to original telling. He also credits each story to the original storyteller which I for one appreciate.If you like ghost stories and don't mind not being able to sleep at night, then this is book for you. You will not regret the purchase. Over all the flow of the book is great and is an easy read. I highly recommend this to anyone.Some of the stories are not suitable for young children in my opinion. Another good book from Jim.....love the podcasts, and couldn't wait for this to become available.To the detractors who say that the writing was poor and amateurish, these stories are taken directly from people's phone calls to the show, and he's relaying them directly as they were told. It has no reflection on his writing ability at all.He's telling the stories he got from listeners, exactly as he heard them, and so has no right or intent to correct their grammar or sentence structure. It would akin to copyright infringement to modify the stories without going and getting permission from each and every person who's stories he gave us.I have been a writer for several years for our local newspaper and for some trade publications. If someone related a story to me, it's proper for me to tell it in their exact words and not modify them at all. It's their story, not mine. It's the same for Jim's book.Keep up the good work Jim, looking forward to your further endeavors in print as well.Jim

I love this book, it is the first of the series that Jim has put out. They are great stories about his listeners ghost stories that you can also find on his website under his archives for the Campfire Ghost story series. Needless to say, he has also ran my story in his book on his 2nd addition. Great book to have along side your bed, or even bathroom material for quick reads in there, lol. Well the stories re great and Jim really is a fine person to host such a series of great host stories. Pick this one up as well as the others...

This is just the kind of "true ghost-story collection" I've been looking for, for ages. Full of that "immediate" feeling you get from hearing someone tell about an experience in their own words, and totally absent of that lame "journalistic" feeling you get from the kinds of "true ghost stories!!1! " collections compiled by egotistical "paranormal experts" trying to tell you what someone else's experience "must have" felt like, if said someone were, perhaps, a reality-show schmendrick or a Hollywood-movie character. The stories in this book are all the more creepy because they are told in the real voices of real people. It makes them more organic. More real! Thank you so very much, Jim Harold. I get the distinct sense that you are a Truly Good Guy. Please publish more of these. Live long, and prosper!

I have loved this book. It is an easy, fun read that is perfect for reading aloud on a roadtrip, or a rainy night cuddled up by the fire. I love how its written in the voice of the story teller, which really gives the reader the feeling that they themselves are sitting around a campfire, hearing the stories first hand. I also love how the book has not just ghost stores, but other stories of monsters, aliens, and visits from the other side. its a blast! Im really looking forward to the next edition. You get the feeling that Jim really has respect for these story tellers, and he is a fantastic steward of the paranormal. Well Done!

Jim Harold's campfire is by far the most entertaining of the lot and is eagerly listened to by thousands of people in countries around the world. The stories are sent in and told by listeners and fans of the podcast.This book is a compilation of Jim's favorite stories and is the perfect book for the Halloween season.Whether you like a spine-tingling story or a heartwarming tale this book won't disappoint!

I have always loved ghost stories and this book is a good read. I curled up in bed on many nights reading the short stories of different people's own personal experiences with ghosts. I have to admit I slept with the lights on some nights.

Read the book and enjoyed it very much, especially since I myself have seen very strange things that have appear and than disappear ??? Things that you think are not possible, aspirations, objects moving by themselves, etc...What is the expalination ???

A few coincidences, some examples of sleep paralysis and maybe a bit of "creative writing"- but also some apparently genuine supernatural experiences. There is always something new and unexpected to be found around Jim Harold's campfire!

Being a fan of the campfire from the start I couldn't wait to get this book. It brings back a lot of memories as well as shivers. Thanks Jim

Really great spooky and interesting stories told in their own words by ordinary people - I bought this because I listen to JIm Harold,'s excellent shows, and wasn't disappointed

I was recommended to read this,in which I'm glad I did. The book had plenty of spooky stories to make your mind wonder and even question the paranormal. Look forward to Jim's second book.
