They are not totally 100% airtight, but close. I would say yes, but food may not be as fresh as a sealed container. We would appreciate you letting us know how they work for that purpose. Thanks.

You can wash them in both. But I prefer dishwasher, it's a lot easier and the soap is more food safe

Yea they are. I use them for PB&J sandwiches and snacks. Then I wash it thoroughly inside and out.
