Easy to use and record. dummy proof. Good starter buttons

We have been working with our puppy using a single button for a while (so he's not quite ready for the full set). However, I wanted to have the set ready to go and to start modelling its use for him as he acquires language, so I got this set.This is a fairly comprehensive set - it comes boxed, with 8 buttons (some big, some small), interlocking mats that hold the buttons in place, instructions, 2 pages of stickers, and all the batteries you need for these to work. I love that it comes as a complete set!I tested out each of the 8 buttons. All record well and have good volume. TIP: hold the buttons upside down to record so that your voice is picked up by the mic. If you record while the button is right-side up, you'll never get good volume. I thought that the larger buttons captured voices more accurately - it almost seemed as though the smaller ones sped up our voices, so I had to speak more slowly. Regardless, the puppy tilted his head when I pressed the buttons appearing as though he recognized voices and words.In terms of the ease of use - all these buttons work even for a small, 9 pound dog. The single button we already have is one of the big ones (that we bought as an individual) and he is able to press it and create sound. So I have no worries that a small breed (e.g., toy poodle) could operate all the buttons in this set.There are TONS of resources out there on how to train a dog to use buttons like this. Always start with one button, so if you have this set, you need not introduce it at once, add vocabulary. Our puppy is not full grown, and he has not hit peak vocabulary acquisition yet, but once he does, it will be great to be able to add buttons to play area and have him communicate more.Really happy to have this particular set, and they have performed really well so far as the humans had fun recording on them, and playing around.

These buttons were the easiest to set up and our dogs took to them so quickly. The stickers do come off pretty quickly, but it’s not like a dog can read anyway!

In the end, whether they have long term value depends on you and your dog, as you need patience and time to train your dog to use them, provided they are receptive to this type of training.

I love the buttons and the stickers but my dog is having to relearn where the right button are because I moved them around but he picks up things fast. Good quality sounds great and very nice starter kit and even included batteries! Cute set as I have a few and this one is better quality.
