The Beginner's Bible: The Very First Christmas

Having grandboys it can be hard to keep their attention. this book has colorful pictures which they love. Story is correct.

It’s lightweight and flimsy but such a sweet book to read with the littles.

Accurate Biblical retelling of nativity story. Also includes that Jesus was God’s son who grew up to be a man and taught people about God, and healed sick people.

I wanted a Christmas story that was easy enough for my 3 year old twins to understand. This book was so great. It's just a little thin paperback and I would have liked it to be a little heavier-duty since we will be using it each night in December. The drawings are great and the kids love to point out all the people and animals and say their names.It tells all about the angel visiting Mary, Cesar orders everyone to return to their homeland so Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem, no room in the inn, the shepherds see an angel, the shepherds visit Jesus, the wise men see the star and go visit "young Jesus", wicked King Herod tries to "trick" the wise men, an angel appears to Joseph to tell him to escape into Egypt. It's perfect! I love how it ends too. It has a picture of a "grown" Jesus and it says when He grew up, He performed many miracles including feeding lots of people with just a little bit of food. Then it goes on to say that Jesus died on a cross for our sins because He loves us so much. And one day, Jesus will return to the Earth to bring all the people who love Him to heaven.It's such a great, easy concept and done so well, I just had to purchase the whole "Beginners Bible" in hardback. I think I'm more excited about it than the kids, but whatever!

In our church, we started giving this book to our kindergartners who are participating in our Christmas pageant for the first time. I like the flow of the story and the only thing I do not like about the book is the eyes of the characters both human and animal alike. That is definitely an adult perspective since none of the kids were bothered by it.

I love these little books like this. They cost the same as a card and I can write a personalized message to the child I am gifting on the inside. Thsee type books aren't their gift but the card that goes with the gift. I think cards are overrated and get thrown away. Books are sometimes cheaper, can say what you want with a fine point sharpie on the inside cover and the gift of reading continues to give as they develop a love for reading. I encourage fam and friends who buy for us to lay off on buying a card and instead build our library with similiar priced books. If the books are repeated it's ok bc the message note on the inside cover makes them pick which one they want to read. Do we want to read nanas story or aunt bets story.

Appropriate book to tell the true meaning of Christmas for small children. I teach Christian preschool and have gifted this book to my students for few years.

Great little book telling The First Christmas Story. We love most products from The Beginners Bible. The Very First Christmas has wonderful bright pictures to keep a 6 year olds short attention and written in a way little ones can understand. We plan to use this for reading time for my sons homeschool class just before our break. The story and art go almost perfectly with his course art and craft projects. Just what I was wanting to spend time one on one with him during the Christmas season. Plus my older sons love it and can not wait to read it too.

Beautiful story. Cute pictures. Well made. Definitely want to bring out to read every Christmas.

A 31 page book, broken into chapters: An Angel Visits Mary, Baby Jesus is Born, Shepherds Visit, The Bright Star and Three Visitors, An Angry King and When Jesus Grew up. I purchased this book based on it's size to cost ratio. A lot of books in the £1-£2 range are pocket size but this book is slightly wide and shorter than A5, making it easy to share with a number of children and also cheap enough to be gifts to all the children at my local toddler group. The pictures are very simple and attractive and there are no more than three lines to a page - but, as it has a number of pages, I think this book would suit children aged 3-6 years old. The sort of book that can come out year after year to share the Christmas story or would make a lovely gift, especially as the final chapter states what Jesus went on to do in his life, that he was the God's son and he died for our sins, rose from the dead and is in heaven but will come back one day.

This is a great storybook for the littles to learn the true meaning of Christmas :-)
