My 2 year old was diagnosed with low iron stores, her bloods were Ferritin: 4 ng/mL and Haemaglobin: 11.1 g/dL. She started on Sytron (5ml pd) but after 10 days was very unhappy with the gastrointestinal side effects.Our doctors want Ferritin 10-100 ng/ML and HB over 11.5 g/dL.I took Spatone due to anaemia after pregnancy, 2 sachets a day for a month made me feel normal again, although I never had a blood test at the end of treatment to see the actual effect on my HB levels.My toddler started on 3 sachets of a spatone a day for a month. Her Haemaglobin was up to 11.7 g/dL (now in normal range) and her Ferritin had raised to 9 ng/mL.6 weeks later, 4 sachets of spatone a day, her Haemaglobin level was maintained and Ferritin: 11 ng/mL (now just into bottom end of normal range).We're going to continue with 2 sachets a day now to maintain the levels. My toddler always takes them with some sort of Vit C (orange juice etc).Spatone sachets are a low dose (5mg per sachet) so you need to up the amount to have a profound effect on your iron levels but it so worth it to not have all the side effects. It does turn my toddler's bowel movements black but she doesn't get any of the horrible cramps and diarrhoea!This value pack is about half what we would pay for Spatone at our local chemist too.

I have been using Spatone for years since my GP recommended it. In the past I have always had the apple variety, but this was much cheaper. No doubt it will do me just as much good, but, blimey, does it taste horrible! Like stagnant water. But, of course, this is soon remedied with a splash of lemon juice.

Have orded before, but this time I have put my same order in for 6 months quantity nut 3 boxes will be out of date by the time I use them. Very poor show.

I've purchased several times before from Boots and Halland and Barrett. Was unable to get any from the stores since lock down. Found these at a non inflated price (thank you) ...they're the only source that don't upset my stomach. So even though they are a lower dose than tablets or some syrups my Dr says it gets me to the correct level and its better than not having anything at all. No constipation upset stomach or nausea. Would happily purchase again from this seller. Although the picture is of the older packaging they actually send out the newly updated boxes that are blue. Not concern with dates. BBE 9/21 .I can drink down straight from the sachet but you need to have with vit C for better absorption.

Effective, did the trick in bringing iron levels up. I have a sachet with small amount of freshly squeezed grapefruit or orange juice diluted in water as vitamin C helps absorption of iron. Usually have this 40mins before a meal.
