Amazing, as always.
Phew! I am exhausted and so revved up over this book, I'll probably crash and burn tonight. I've spread this read over six and a bit days exactly. Why? Because I wanted to take my time reading it. I wanted to savour it. Last night though, I plowed ahead full force, devouring it and stopped only to watch a DVD with my husband, which ended at midnight, and then started up again. Only managed to read until two this morning as my iPad died out. I wasn't stressed as I have my Kindle for back-up. So, iPad goes on charge, I grab my Kindle, switch in on and then found myself on the verge of screaming bloody murder. I didn't, but really wanted to. The Kindle, which I hadn't used in forever, was just as flat. Pure torture. This left me with no choice but to go to bed, but I can guarantee you that even though I slept late this morning, I read whilst eating breakfast, whilst doing laundry, whilst feeding my dogs and through numerous other chores until such time as I was done. And then I was in a state. Not only did I have numerous questions, but I was angry that I'd finished. This is what J.R. Ward does to me. The best part about reading J.R. Ward's books is that my friend, Suzanne, reads right along with me. The numerous text messages we send back and forth are full of angst, shock, surprise, anger, sighs and so on. I won't even get into the phone calls! Between the two of us, it's a wonder we manage to make out what the other is saying as we speak at the same time, and at about 120 km/h. Quite funny. This installment was amazing, but it was also frustrating and cringe worthy. It has to be. We are talking about good versus evil. Heaven and Hell. Angel versus demon. And boy, Devina is one heck of a demon. She's truly and utterly evil personified. One thing Ward has managed to do, where I was concerned - especially with the last book - was make me feel a teensy weensy bit sorry for Devina - I didn't like her - let's not get this at all confused. She's also made me laugh over her quirks, OCD and downright superior behaviour. In this installment, however, wow, I wanted to personally kill her myself. But let me change direction for a bit, and in no way, shape or form am I going to spoil this one. I hope. Love it or hate it. I am a definite fan.I loved Cait Douglass. Trying to get over a broken heart, she decides it's high time to get her act together and start living life. Her friend takes her out to hear some guy sing, someone who is drooled over by most of the female population, and not only does he pique her interest, she most certainly has caught his attention. I interject right here and say that from the very second G.B. opened his mouth, I hated him. Oh, he was charming and mannerly and all that stuff, but something ticked me off about him. This is the best way I can describe my feeling: there are certain men in life that creep women (me) out the very second they (I) meet them, and this is exactly how I felt about him. And, I was proven right. On the same night in the parking lot, she meets yet another man. Amazing how things happen. When you put yourself out there to meet one person, you meet two within the space of a few hours. This time, however, Duke enters the story and I freaking loved him right off the bat. Duke is all that. He is. And more. This triangle pans throughout Possession and ends in a way I did not predict - it's more intricate than what I had originally thought, but in the way I wanted it to.Jim Heron. Fallen Angel extraordinaire - he is to me, is still fighting in the war between good and evil, saving souls, or at least trying to. If you've read this series, you'll know that he has not once given up on Sissy Barten whom Devina killed for her virginity in order to protect her mirror - her means of coming and going. Sissy has been stuck in that horror-ridden wall down in Hell for weeks, but what seemed like years to her. Jim had vowed not only to her mother but himself that he would get Sissy out, and alas there was only one way he could do this. He literally made a deal with the devil in order to get Sissy back. I was so happy that by this fifth installment he got it right, keeping in mind that everything comes with consequences. We finally get to know Sissy and I just adore her. She's all of nineteen, but I guess having gone through the horrors nobody should ever have to go through has given her a certain strength, which eventually starts to shine and gets stronger as the story progresses. I can't forget Ad (Adrian) who has a special place in my heart as did Eddie. I miss Eddie. I miss their dynamic like you can't believe. These two were each other's halves, and Ad not only lives with this deep hurt, he's practically half the man he used to be considering what he gave up in the previous book, Rapture. He's all sarcastic-like when Jim goes against everyone's wishes and takes Sissy to live with them, but he eventually starts seeing Sissy for who she is and he softens like I couldn't believe. Even Jim was dumbfounded. He's got her back for sure. Love that.Jim has spent so long trying to save Sissy and now that he has her back, he too starts seeing her in a new light. I won't go there, but will say that almost near the end, I got the same vibe from her and hope this develops over the next installments. I can't wait. I also hope that something, anything, for goodness' sakes can be done about Eddie! Please!Nigel, Jim's boss pulls a shocker, so much so, that even though I completely understand how one could get to such a place considering what all happens in this war, I still find myself wondering why he did what he did. I can't get my head around this one. As far as the big boss, Colin, is concerned, yikes. He freaking scared the crap out of me, but it only showed me how far down the rabbit hole one can go when at a loss. I get where his outrage and anger are coming from too, but jeepers - he needed to calm down already. There's one person I am just dying and trying to figure out as to who it could possibly be, and that's the janitor. Eddie? Maybe? I don't have a clue. One thing I can say is that there is so much happening in this book, you should truly take your time reading it. Pay it the attention it deserves. There are twists and turns that are mind-boggling, but oh so good, revelations that I hadn't a clue were coming, and downright disgusting situations that only someone such as Devina could pull off. Eww, she's so gross, but so well written as are all of Ward's characters. This woman is a genius! Ward, not Devina.I simply cannot wait for the next one, but I guess I'll have to - I've no choice really. At least I know that every six months there is something of J.R. Ward's to be read. With this said, I am jumping for joy at the prospect of reading The King in the BDB series by this truly superb author.Loved. And nope, no matter what anyone else thinks, you can't take it away from me!

A Fantastic and Absorbing Paranormal Romance!
This is the fifth installment in the Fallen Angels series, and my favorite, so far! I absolutely loved it! We pick up right where we left off in the last book with our favorite fallen angel, Jim Heron, still recovering from the last round in the war between good and evil, and still adjusting to his living quarters in an old, decrepit mansion... an eerie place, with a life of its own, where the grandfather clock occasionally chimes to the number thirteen. And as with the other books in the series, the author continues to lay out the scenes with detailed precision, and plenty of humor!Cait Douglass is still mourning the loss of a relationship that ended with heartbreak. Her boyfriend not only cheated on her, but he is now preparing to be a father. So, this past year, Cait has made drastic changes in her own life. She hit the gym, in an effort to take her mind off the grieving process, and now she's changing her hair. Just a cut, maybe a few layers... or maybe she should go blonde. At least, that's what the stylist is suggesting. So, after much contemplation, she decides to take the plunge... and she couldn't be happier! The new color is giving her the lift she needed, especially when she steps outside, and immediately discovers that her new look is bringing on some unexpected attention!Meeting her friend at a small club, she settles in to listen to the gorgeous performer playing melodic music on his guitar. His songs are mesmerizing. And while he has a hefty fan base of woman surrounding him, he focuses on Cait. After the show, he chats her up, and up close Cait realizes he is even more gorgeous. She finds herself stumbling over her words. Still, she gives him her number before saying goodbye. Outside, in a lonely parking lot, she has a brief encounter a hulk of a man with a shaved head, and piercing eyes. Only a few words were exchanged between them, and yet she can't get him out of her head. He unexpectedly shows up in her life, once again, and the mutual attraction is off the charts! She learns his name is Duke. What happens next is even more unexpected, and out of character for Cait. But this has been a year of change, so she doesn't fight it. Still, there is something off... something she can't quite put her finger on.Duke Phillips is a formidable doorman at a club in Caldwell, New York--a dark, gothic playground for those who sleep by day and come out to play at night. Duke has stayed away from relationships, choosing instead to keep matters of the heart on a strictly casual basis. But now, he is confused. He wasn't supposed to feel such a pull toward the blonde beauty, Cait. In fact, his ulterior motives had nothing to do with her. Still, day and night, he can't stop thinking about her, even though, after crossing paths with a psychic, he was warned to stay far away from the brunette woman he'd just met. Sure, his intuition was burning up, but so was he, for Cait. And she was a blonde, after all. How dangerous could their interludes really be? And yet, the walls seem to be closing in, as lies and deceit are buried deeper.Across town, Jim Heron still doesn't know whose soul is up for grabs. He is distracted by thoughts of Sissy, the girl who was murdered by the demon, Devina. And his plans to rescue Sissy from Devina's lair continue to dominate his thoughts. But while Jim is plotting Sissy's escape, and making deals with Devina--deals that may jeopardize more that just one round of the games of good against evil--bad things are going on in heaven. Even Adrian--Jim's friend on Earth, and fallen angel partner--is worried. But once Jim gets his head back in the game he discovers the true cost of his hubris, and the price he will pay for checking out of the games, even temporarily. Making a deal with the devil is never a good idea. And now, some heads are going to roll. This was the most complex book in the series, so far, and one of my new favorites! From heaven, to the underworld, and back on Earth we delve deeper into each world, and discover new meaning to the story and to the series, as a whole. Questions from previous books are answered, and the plot is gaining momentum as we gear up for the final outcome. Despite the complexity, the book is so well written that I never felt lost. And the characters are fully developed--it's impossible for the reader not to feel invested in them. There are dark elements throughout, which complement the mood, and add to the suspense. This is a fantastic, absorbing, and well written book full of surprises! And a must read for all paranormal romance fans! But I do recommend starting with the first book, so that you know the history of the characters, and how the games began.

Best in the series so far
I've been following this series from the start, and I have to say to any potential new readers, you really do need to read this Fallen Angel Series in order, starting with 'Covet'Jim Heron is the chosen one, a man made angel, bought over to the good side to fight the war between good and evil. Except Jim's not exactly led an angelic life, not, that is, until his death. And now, locked in battle with the demonic Devina, there's nothing that will stop Jim from going all out to win this war. Nothing but one young woman, an innocent killed by Devina and trapped in Hell, inside her wall of souls. And Jim can't get her out of his mind.In this, the fifth book in the dramatic and fast moving series, Jim's winning the war, having saved three souls to Devina's claimed one, but is the balance the game about to shift; as Jim considers a game-changing move that might just mean the end of the world. With gritty, characters that you'll have grown to love, or hate, throughout the series, this instalment was among the best yet. With unforeseen plot twists and turns that will keep you second guessing all the way through and desperate for the next instalment; Immortal.

Simply Brilliant!
I love J. R. Ward's style of writing and imagination. She is now one of my All Time Favourite Authors. I love the Black Dagger Brotherhood series....But.. and I say But... This series is stand alone Brilliance. The way in which, Angels and Demons fit into realistic and seemingly everyday characters, is done, in the most believable and tangible way. Once again the storyline features Devina's OCD problem, her regular visits to her Counsellor and the advice she tries to follow....Hilarious....And in this book she almost appears 'helpless' which amazingly given the sheer evilness of her, I actually started to feel sorry for her... but only a little...... :) .. This story as in previous storylines keeps you guessing as to how it's all going to end. A decision made by Jim at the end of the previoua story, Rapture, gives a negative impact on his quest to win not only this round but the game. The sad storyline surrounding Sissy is explored more and written with affective strong emotion. Had to stop reading on my train... This series is a definite winner for me. Possession:No.5, is an excellent addition to the series. I was so sad when it came to the end. Looking forward to the final instalment but not the end of the series. Thank You J. R. Ward for becoming a Writer.

Bring It On
Whilst I started the Fallen Angels series with no real intention of enjoying them as much as I did the Black Dagger Brotherhood, the series has grown on me book by book and this one was no exception. There were some neat little holy sh*t moments for me this time around, things that have been tantalizingly left hanging, my only hope is that they will, eventually, be bought to a conclusion. Why can Sissy see halos? Why has Adrian not got a halo? If Jim relinquishes his "job" as the saviour will Sissy be his replacement? To name but a few.For fans of Ms Ward this is another must, but please, if you're new to her works the Fallen Angels should be read in order or they really won't make much sense.

Enjoyable
This one only gets three stars cause it's not my favourite in the series, I much prefer the first two/three books. There are some events that were really sad and another unexpected character death, there are also some plot lines developing that I don't really like and it isn't so much because of age differences but more cause I don't particularly like the pairing of the characters, especially because of Jim's obsession and how it's affecting his mission.
