Found it hard to put down.
Such a wonderful story. I laughed and got a little choked up. But all in all it was such a pleasure to read. And have now ordered more of Cathy Kelly,s books.

Very enjoyable
I enjoyed reading this book. I felt it started off slowly and felt it took a while to get to the main idea. It is topical and will be easily enjoyed by all.

interesting characters but very slow
This would have been better if it had been edited more carefully and perhaps about 10000 words cut out. There are many sentences that are repeating the meaning of the sentence before and you are told the same information in a very exposition way over and over again. This also comes across as unnatural especially when one of the sisters tells another something that she would clearly know. Unfortunately this made it very hard to get into as I felt like shouting 'I know. I know' as I was told about the father's gambling problem for maybe the tenth time, the fact that Rory was happy to be gay that the older sister was beautiful etc etc Apart from that it is the usual Cathy Kelly book, nice to read when you want something easy. family saga, etc.

Back on top form
It really was hard to put this down, I tend to read mainly in the evenings and when I go to bed so I had to ration myself as it’s quite a long book. Yes, I suppose it was reasonably predicable but nonetheless absorbing, Cathy Kelly invents characters you immediately invest in and care about, and I so love a happy ending…I did feel that the last book didn’t flow quite as readily as previously but in retrospect that could also have been my state of mind at the time in fairness. I definitely recommend this book and I don’t agree with the reviewer who complained about repetition and more editing required. Thank you, Cathy.

She's back-and with a fantastic book!
I've always loved Cathy Kelly books, I own all of them, although her last book was not my favorite. I was hoping this book was more like the Cathy Kelly books I've come to adore. I can say with 100% certainty that this may be my favorite book by her ever. This is similar to "Just Between Us", which has long been my favorite book of all time. This book is about 4 sisters, they grew up with a seemingly fabulous life in a glitzy hotel. Indy, the oldest, is a midwife (as a nurse myself, Cathy Kelly was glowing in her praise for the profession and truly told it like it is-THANK YOU!!), she is stunningly beautiful, has a very happy marriage, and is the mom of 2 little girls. Then there is Eden, with her twin sister Savannah. Eden is a politician, overworked, and hiding a secret. Someone must know the secret as she is getting threatening messages. She is childless by choice and in a happy and supportive marriage to a man who comes from a political dynasty. Savannah is the owner of a very successful company that makes beauty products. Her husband takes grave issue with the fact that she is successful, he insists she is stupid and HE runs everything. Savannah is in an abusive relationship but puts on a fake mask for the world (including her sisters and her parents) to see. People can tell something is wrong, but they don't look too deeply into it. (as someone who has been there, I was tense reading the Savannah parts. It was SPOT. ON.) Finally we have the youngest sister, Rory. Rory is an out and proud lesbian, however, she does not want rainbow flags and vocal support from her family (to her mom's chagrin!). She is writing a book about the family, it's "fiction" but very obviously based on her life. Her partner is Chantal and is warm and loving to the entire Robicheaux family, she is much loved by all. The book is centered on the week leading up to the parent's (Meg and Stu) remarriage. Each "chapter" of the book is based on one day leading up to the wedding, and we see everyone's point of view. Meg is calm and supportive of everyone, much loved by all. She is remarrying Stu now that he is sober and not gambling (he lost everything in the past). Or is he? What if he's not sober? And what secrets are still out there, waiting to explode? The daughters each, by turn, want to be supportive of their mom (mostly) love their dad but aren't convinced this is the right thing to do, all while dealing with their own personal traumas. Sometimes I wanted to shake each sister and say "tell the others what's going on!" One of Kelly's greatest gifts is writing about family and how they come together. Another is her writing of secondary characters that flit in and out. Sonya Robicheaux, Stu's sister, is delightful (another nurse!). Vonnie' Meg's best friend and maid of honor, is humor-she made me smile. Everyone needs a Vonnie in their life!. And Savannah's chief employee, Anthony-he needs his own story in the next book. This book was EXACTLY what I needed, it was a perfect summer read (although it will also be a perfect winter snuggled under a blanket read)! And I cannot recommend it enough. I've read it twice already.

A bit too much
Cathy is a big fan of the Netflix show „Chesapeake Shores” as significant parts of the story are similar. However, I found too many stories squeezed into one novel. It felt like she couldn’t decide which hot topic to write about, and so she did all. It’s not a MUST read, but it has its moments

Thank you Cathy
A great distraction and well written as always Cathy Kelly. Loved the story lines around real-life situations and how to deal with him honestly…

Great story.
I loved all the characters stories. I didn’t get stressed despite some hard facts. I want to compliment Cathy Kelly for bringing up so many difficult subjects which affect many women. Well done and well written. I learnt a lot about emotional abuse and why the women don’t fight back or speak about it.
