Works well
So far we have only used this to attach to the shoe. Have not needed it on the foot while barefoot. It is comfortable but not too rigid. My son is able to take a better step without dragging his toe. Definitely needs a parent to help put this on for younger kids. Fabric is comfortable and has not caused any irritation.Velcro unfortunately wore out at about one month of daily use. But it was working well enough for us that we purchased a second one. It allows for some flexibility of shoe use, where our AFO only fits in certain shoes.

This Soft AFO Foot-Up Drop Foot Brace is made for people with huge feet and tiny legs!
The Foot-up concept works for minor drop foot problems. Several years ago after a hip surgery I had a temporary problem with drop foot so I already own a Foot-up from a different company. The one I have is like this one I link to on Amazon https://amzn.to/2WrFKd4 . But that one only attaches to a shoe and I wanted one that I could use barefoot at home. I have Anterior Tibialis Tendonitis right now and while in PT (ankle injury related) the therapist showed me how to use a Theraband in a clever way to pull up on my foot and make walking less painful to the anterior tibialis tendon. Ah! so nice. I went home and started using my old Foot-up with a shoe and ordered this one for use at home with bare feet.Amazon Prime, I love you! The soft AFO Foot-up Drop Foot Brace showed up yesterday and I was keen to try it on. It looks well-made though the hook-and-loop closure material (like Velcro but definitely NOT Velcro) is one of the cheaper low quality varieties. The other materials look fine. The padding thickness of the fabric sections is good and the stitching workmanship overall looks good.Problems that prompt me to return the item:1. The bad hook and loop material selection: The hook and loop (velcro-type material) is inadequate for the job it needs to do. I looked at 1 star reviews on this product and see at least one customer say the same -- the thing pulls apart throughout the day because the velcro doesn't stick enough. If they had chosen to use real Velcro OR they had designed the product with more hook-and-loop (width and length) overlap -- either one would have taken care of this problem.2. The FIT. The maker of this brace decided that the circumference of the foot and of the leg area are the same! But they are not. Well at least in my case they're not. So there are two fit problems. The first one (leg strap) I anticipated and thought I might have to sew an extension or add velcro to the product to make it work. The second one (foot strap) was completely unexpected and since the foot part is really important for me (see, I already have a different brace for use with shoes), this means I return the product.I have big feet and big ankles/calves. The leg portion goes above the ankle. It doesn't work if you are putting it close to your foot directly on the ankle. Ideally you place the leg part as far above the ankle as you can manage to get it because then the angle between leg and foot portion allows the strap to pull more vertically helping to reduce drop foot. I suspect some of the other reviewers who said this product did not work with drop foot may have put the leg portion on directly at the ankle so the little strap (which is on the BOTTOM of the 3.5" wide leg wrap) is largely horizontal and does very little to help with foot drop. I measured the length of leg portion -- it is 12" long and the minimum overlap is 1" so the velcro on the padded material can be fully used. So your circumference in the ankle-to-calf area needs to be 11" or less for that. The strap that goes horizontally around the leg portion is too short though, so that makes the required overlap be about 2" minimum to allow that strap to fold back on itself secure enough to walk with for more than a step. So that means ankle to calf location circumference needs to be 10" or less. My ankle is 11" but over the 3.5" width of the leg strap (go up and measure the leg 3.5" or more above the ankle itself) my lower calf quickly becomes 12" and in the location I would like to wear the brace, my lower leg is 13" This could be dealt with by sewing/modifying the brace of course. I think anyone with large legs is going to have a problem with this. But, the foot part of the brace is just weird. Since the leg portion is made for an average to small size leg you'd think the foot portion would be the same but it is not. That part is exactly the same 12" length as the leg part. So it is made for a foot circumference of something a bit under 11". The problem is that if you wrap it around your foot and your foot is under that 11" the extra material makes a really odd big bundle under your foot/arch and you can't walk. If your foot circumference is less than about 10" the product is going to be uncomfortable. This is the final straw that forces me to return the product. I have relatively big feet (mens size 9.5 womens size 11) and cannot imagine what a smaller footed person would do. Since I don't need the shoe-only feature, the product is useless to me in present form. I can't think of a way to modify the foot portion so I could use it. Return.Too big foot portion + too small leg portion = completely wrong. Do not waste your time and money with this product.

Just OK
I'm leaving an honest review from my point of view. Putting it on was fairly simple with the little instructions provided. The piece that goes onto the foot is a little uncomfortable because of the thickness of it. The piece that wraps around the base of the leg is comfortable. The velcro strap that connects the 2 pieces is long enough to connect to the piece on the foot but is too long for the velcro to engage. It needs to have more fastener area to keep it secure. When you wear it with shoes, you don't apply the piece to the foot. The velcro strap is supposed to be secured around the show laces. The velcro strap at times loosens up and you have to re-attach it. If your looking for something to provide a lot of lift, this is not it. It provides a little lift to your foot and is limited by the velcro strap. I'll keep it since it was inexpensive but I wouldn't recommend this one. I think the design could be improved by making the foot piece more comfortable and doing something with the effectiveness of the velcro strap that is providing the lift.

Works well
I purchased this to help with my case of drop foot in lieu of an expensive appliance. I have been using it for two weeks and seems to be of good quality, easy to use with laced shoes and helps position my foot to avoid any toe drag while walking. It is comfortable around my ankle. The only shortcoming I noticed is that I wear size 6 1/2 and the support strap is maxed out not allowing me to raise my toes as high as I would like, but acceptable. Good value.

Relieve your anxiety
After several falls, and a trip to the ER, due to my foot drop, I began to have extreme anxiety about walking. This brace has been such a blessing! I bought this model specifically because it can be worn barefoot, and I have not found that feature to work very well, as it won't stay at the front of my foot. Perhaps I need to work with it more. I still give it 5 stars because it's very comfortable and discreet, and quick and easy to strap on. I'm buying a second one for my summer shoes because I like to leave it on my sneaker. It's simple, and cheap, and it works great. The velcro is nice and strong. I think I've had it for about 2 months now, and I just love it. I have so much more confidence in my steps now that I end up wearing my shoes around the house. It takes a little playing around to get it adjusted correctly. I don't use it quite the way they show in the photos. Instead, I attach the strap to the laces closest to my toe. Because all the pieces are detachable, it's very versatile, and I'm sure every person can find the right fit. I hope it brings you as much relief!

Helpful but disappointing
This is great for foot drop, it's just pretty difficult to put on, especially after having a stroke and using only one hand. Once it's on though, it seems to be helping pretty well.Edit: I realized after a few days, this thing is basically impossible to put on with one hand and put it in a shoe. Already returned.
