If you’re comparing this option versus others and your main point of doubt is the air pump, you can’t go wrong here. The air pump (what is this, 1996? Reebok?) actually provides more stability in those little open gaps. It’s very comfortable and easy to size and fit. Fantastic!Pro- secure Velcro straps that stay in place when not in use (attached to the hard part of the boot)- offers great support (better and taller than the one I left the hospital with)- sturdy, well made- comfortable (easily adjusts to fit different sized ham hocks)- air pump (not a gimmick. The damn thing WORKS!)Cons- it isn’t breathable (I don’t care about this at all, but I’m sure someone will complain about it)- need a lifted shoe for the other foot to balance the height difference (again, this is a ‘’me’ problem, not a product problem)I had a severe dislocation with an open fracture from a fall. Basically, I broke my foot off my leg. It was surgically reattached. The fibula was shattered pretty badly, so I was immobile for almost 12 weeks.Now I am at a point to start putting weight back on it again. The cam boot I left the hospital with was not very helpful for this application.This product has helped me feel confident and secure putting weight on my foot/leg again. The mental game is the most difficult to face, but this makes me feel like I can, instead of hoping I can.Highly recommend!

$ for $ this the best boot you can have. The smartest item on this boot is the proper spacing of the Velcro straps…but what makes it even better is the hard plastic supports going up both sides of the brace that have slots to HOLD THE VELCRO STRAPS IN PLACE. All other boots have the anchor clip up front and you have the strap return then fold over…pain in the butt! You have to hold the Velcro strap in place in the back with one hand then secure the Velcro in front with the other hand…REALLY ODD! This boot is sensibly designed with this in mind.

Exceptionally well made, worked perfectly. My only caution is the velcro straps are so secure I have a hard time getting them undone. On the upper 3 straps I literally have to pull with two hands to undo the velcro, and trying to do that from any position above the boot is difficult. I'm in my 60s, and not a weakling. I can't imagine what it would be like for someone in their 80s with limited hand strength.
