The subtitle “The Untold Story of Women in Art” is ridiculously outdated. Where has the author been during the past several decades with all the published books and articles on the history of women in art?

As Charney himself says, he is a “pop” professor, writing here for the lay audience. It’s a well-written, compact summary of important woman in art, from prehistory to the present. Well executed, nicely illustrated.
