Pentel Twist-Erase III Mechanical Pencil, 0.7mm, Red Barrel, 12 Count(QE517B)

I've been hooked on this model for 20 years! And they last forever!Don't hesitate to buy these. You'll love them. Just remember they take 0.7mm, not 0.5mm.

I only use mechanical pencils. These are the best. They feel great in my hand.

Great pencil! Be sure you know whether you want a standard lead 0.7 or a fine lead 0.5 when you order.

I have been using this pencil either with a 7 or 9 lead SINCE COLLEGE! I tend to press hard when writing so a thicker lead is ideal. I also suffer from carpal tunnel issues, and this is a thicker pencil with a soft grip.

Amazing mechanical pencils

I bought these pencils on the recommendation of my son, who absolutely *raves* about them. (I believe his actual comment was that I needed to get rid of my crappy pencils and get good-quality ones like his, haha.) He was right, though: The feel, functionality, and appearance of these pencils is fantastic! The reason that I only gave a 4-star rating is that the "box of 12" in the description turned out to contain only 9 pencils. Not cool.* * * UPDATE* * * Kudos to Amazon for taking care of the issue promptly and satisfactorily: When I filed a complaint about the box being short 3 pencils, a new box of 12 was immediately shipped--and there were actually 12 pencils in that box. I suspect that the initial mistake may have been an honest one on Amazon's end: Perhaps someone sent back an order but swiped three pencils from the box before returning it. If these processes are fully automated, the box could have been resold in good faith. (A less charitable hypothesis is that the seller is shorting some boxes on purpose and increasing profits.) Anyway, I'm happy now. :-)

I've been drawing for 11 years now and this is single handedly the best sketching pencil I've ever used.*Not only does this pencil have a twist eraser, the erasing is smooth and doesn't leave marks.*The twist doesn't come undone while you draw; the eraser is fixed in place unless you tamper with it.*The grip is perfect for drawing hours on end. No more sore fingers!*The lead is soft, responsive, but durable. If you want a darker line, just push harder on the paper. The pencil responds amazingly; unlike a normal mechanical which seems to scratch and squeal.*You also only need one pack of these bad boys! Erasers and lead are refillable.I'm genuinely obsessed with these pencils.Expensive but worth it.

Bought this to replace a pencil nicked by a colleague. Had to buy a freakin’ box — when on earth will I ever use 12 mechanical pencils? You can just buy replacement leads, doncha know? But they’re nice to use and great Pentel quality so I will live with them.

0.9 mm lead that doesn't break under my heavy hand! Eraser that lasts, seemingly, forever! Comfortable grip! Nicely weighted! Great pencil! Its not the first time I've bought this model of pencil and won't be the last!
