Nostalgia purchase
Vollrath has been around a long time. I grew up in a household with several of their products. This was one of those I remember the best. It is a bit pricey for a sugar dispenser but worth it to me to recapture a bit of my childhood. It is sound and sturdy, not easy to break. Looks nice in my opinion. So a great blend of style and functionality. I wish I could afford the food grater/slicer but that is well out of my feasible price range.

Expensive & still leaks
I read the reviews how sugar can leak out if the lid is not tight. I was sure that no sugar was on the rim before closing the lid. It still leaks. For this price I expected it to work well at least the first time! My fix was to add a layer of Glad Press and Seal on the glass rim before screwing on the lid, then cut off the excess. That keeps it sealed tightly. It’s almost like this design calls for a rubber gasket between the glass jar and metal lid, but none is provided.

Love it!
I have a similar sugar bowl that's been in my family for years. I tried to get a replacement "just in case," but it seems that the ones on the market today are flimsy and don't pour as easily as mine. I found this online and thought it looked pretty much like the one I had, so I ordered it. It's EXACTLY like the one I currently own. It's a little more expensive than most, but restaurant quality and well worth it. It's made of glass and has a stainless steel pourer. I can't believe I'm actually reviewing a sugar bowl, but I am.

Quality
My previous sugar dispenser was cheap and flimsy. It never poured right and hard to screw lid on and off. I spent the money and this is what I wanted, just like the old diner sugar pourer. It's heavy glass and the lid is made with quality. Pours easily.

Amazing quality
Just like the old school sugar dispenser we had growing up form Corning ware. This has a sturdy weighted top and thick glass bottom. Easy to screw top on and off for refills of sugar or Swerve. Sugar comes out nice and slowly so you don’t get to much in your coffee. Highly recommend.
