I was looking for a good lensatic compass, but the cammenga's are $$$ and the rest are cheap plastic that point east.This is the one I'm looking for.The case is metal (feels like aluminum), the dial clicks when rotated (3deg per click, easy to adjust at night), it points correctly and feels like it will last. The phosphorescent markings on the dial and lid (top and bottom of the wire) are bright, especially when hit with a 365nm uv light. They fade within a few minutes, though. The markings on the side for topo maps seem accurate on my maps.The dial is immersed in liquid (mineral oil or kerosene is best) and the only fear I have is a bubble forming due to elevation changes. Hopefully it won't.Comes with a long neck strap. The clinometer on back of the compass works. There's lots of youtube vids showing how to use a lensatic compass if you're unfamiliar with this type.I like this. I like the price. It works.

Not a real issued unit, but is very close. I'm so inlove with this one. luminescence is excellent

The compass gets blocked very easily and stops pointing north. I bought it to have an instrument that would give me security at all times and I received a nice compass that for some reason does not work.

This compass is well constructed and accurate compared to other compasses, and would be an excellent addition to your emergency kit, or to keep in your vehicle or hiking backpack. This is a lasting and always useful device that could be combined with a gift about going places or finding your own way. Compasses are interesting and useful to everyone from elementary school campout groups to seasoned travelers. It is a good tool to have on hand if you ever think you might be somewhere in snow or fog and lose your bearings or, if you just think compasses are really cool and want a nice-looking one.

its like a 2 star product for its price, 3 star overall IMO. you can get the same quality compasses from almost half the price usually. its still a decent compass, not high tier or high quality, but the price is too high
