Excellent product to attach light weight camera accessories to standard photographic mounts and accessories. - - I used it to attach a standard drive gear for a homemade photographic slider pulley system.I used Foto&Tech 1/4" 3/8" Tripod Screw Mount Convert Adapter Flash Light Stand Camera Spigot for Camera Cage/Shoulder Rig/Tripod/Socket Studio/Lighting Equipment/LED panel/GoPro/ballheads/QR clamps for a homemade photography slider gear assembly with this gear and drive kit MOHOO 8pcs GT2 Pulley 20Teeth Bore5mm 5M GT2 Belt Timing Belt Pulley set kit for 3D Printer Parts RepRap Prusa , one fixed gear is tapped with a 3/8" -16 NC tap thread that connects directly to the drive of your choice, (I used the TURNSPRO) and the other gear freely rotates by holding it in place with a Machine Screw Pan Head Phillips M5-.80 x 50 and a Insert Lock Nut Nylon Class 8 M5-.80 - The Camera slider I used was the Fomito Upgraded Camera Video Slider Track Dolly Stabilization System (80cm / 32") , and powered it with a TurnsPro - Time lapse Camera Mount - Panning Rotating 360 for GoPro DSLR iPhone. Motorised Pan Head for panoramic photos . You will need a Manfrotto 143BKT Replacement Camera Bracket for Magic Arm (Black) and 2 standoff studs Foto&Tech Gold Plated 1/4" Male to 3/8" Male Threaded Screw Adapter Spigot Stud Flash Light Stand Connector for Camera Flash Holder/ Studio Light Stand /Ball Head/Wireless Flash Receiver/ Trigger one to hold the rotating gear with 1 Manfrotto 035RL Super Clamp with 2908 Standard Stud - Replaces 2900 - Black and the other to hold the Magic arm camera bracket to the Slider where the Turnspro drive is mounted. You wrap the drive belt around both end gears and clip it to the other mounting hole on the moveable part of the Fomito Slider (not where the center camera mount is) with the other Foto&Tech 1/4" Tripod mount. Then you align all parallel with the slider and level with the drive belt. You can make a drive belt clamp or just use a couple of stiff clothes pins to test and align everything. You can substitute whatever parts you may already own or just use what I suggested. This set up will do a 5 min to 9 hour time lapse and you can drag up to 1.5Kg load up a 30 degree slope, easy. Tripods make great light stands, too: HERE’S HOW:
I prefer to travel light and there are times I don’t want to lug both a tripod and light stand, unless I must have both at the same time. But typically if I am lighting something, I’ll hand hold and thus love the idea of converting any tripod into a light stand. This inexpensive gadget does the trick!TIP:For the sturdiest tripod fit, tighten the adapter inside your light first. Then, as a second step, place on top of tripod and use tripod screw to attach for a tight and secure fit.

Inexpensive and functional!
Does exactly what it is supposed to. I got it so I could use existing tripods to hold flashes. This adapter makes it possible to mount many different flash boxes/ diffuser to a tripod, without purchasing a dedicated light stand.
