I settled on these gloves because the ones I originally ordered were suddenly out of stock. These gloves size L men's were way too small. I have regular man hands and not bricklayer specials and size L was uncomfortable even if they would stretch.

Great glove and well worth the extra cost when comparing quality. Easy to dry off slowly if and when required, then wax up to keep them going for years.

Most of my use of these gloves is in alpine climbing / mountaineering where these serve as my "oh damn, it's cold" gloves.Obviously this is a heavy glove, well insulated, durability built which means limited dexterity. Tying shoelaces would be impossible but I can handle ropes, axes and even some zippers decently enough and without taking them off.As for their primary cold weather use and protection, the Patrols are absolutely amazing. As described, these are workhorse gloves, they've held up great across snow, ice, rock and keep my hands toasty warm without suffering too badly from sweat. Admittedly I try to stay out of them and into something lighter (I run hot), but when it gets bad they deliver. Water does not remotely start to get through and the wrist cuff draws work well with shells or puffy jackets for layering though those could be a little longer / wider.Size is a little on the small side (I wear an XL but am probably just a solid L). Packability is limited as these are pretty rigid but they're not crazy bulky or heavy.

Great gloves. After a few uses very happy.1. Seemed tight on my hands, but after a few days on the mtn they have settled, fit perfect.2. Gloves are hot, all most too hot for me. If you run hot or ride in temperate area like PNW, you might need a pair of spring mitts for warmer days so your hands don't melt.Build looks bullet proof so plan on using these for years to come.

20 years ago these were the bomb, now they really are. Fit is horrible it's like a monkey trap once you get past the extremely narrow wrist opening you are welcome to an array of unpleasant sensory experiences. Loose threads, terrible seams and what say you want to take them off for any articulation it feels like wearing a sweaty turtleneck, makes you just want to FREAK OUT!!! Junk, BAD DOG Black Diamond! Bad dog!Never again Black Diamond and this is not the first time in your line up that your products are substandard. Appealing to a group of people that really don't know the difference is cunningly gross.
