grinds spices very well
I regularly grind spices for curry powders at home, and pretty much all of the spice grinders I have tried over the years dont do a very good job. they are generally too small, and they overheat easily, and very fine powder accululates in the bottom of the grinder, while courser material stays on the top. Grinding some of the harder spices such as coriander seeds takes a long time to get a grind as well, and I never get it fine enough. So I bought the Waring Commercial WSG60K Spice Grinder, and found that it works very well. It has a very powerful motor. It can take a larger amount of spices, and I find that if it is filled between 1/3 to 1/2 full with whole spices it works very well. It does not over heat, although the spices will get warm, but not too much. You can grind spices for a much longer time than other smaller spice grinders, and I can grind coriander seed for about 2 and a half minutes to get a fairly fine texture, not quite as fine as commercially bought coriander powder, but pretty close to it. Now I can make a batch of garam masala or curry powder from whole spices in a couple of minutes, instead of 10 minutes of messing about with the other grinders I have tried previously. Beware though that this wont grind small amounts of spices such as a couple of teaspoons worth, because it just spins the seeds around the top of the grindring chamber, so the blades dont chop the spices. Also, if you are adding pre ground powders such as turmeric or chili powder to your curry mix, you should do this after the whole spices have been ground, and just blitz for a few seconds to mix them in, or you could overheat the pre-ground spices and they change to a darker colour if you add them in with the whole spices at the start. I have not tried grinding curry pasts with wet ingredients such as garlic and giner and onions yet, but the detachable grinding bowl is water tight, and they do say you can make wet mixes in it. The SMALLER 350ml capacity Waring Commercial WSG30K Spice Grinder might be better for some people, as the WSG60K I bought has a 650ml capacity. Overall the product seems well made and powerful.

Brought on Amazon Warehouse, nice product time will tell. Also deceptively compact but powerful.
After buying several brands of coffee bean grinders which the blades broke in days. After inheriting one from my Asian Mother-Inlaw which i burnt the motor out after I discovered the joy of blend my own garam masala powder & all spice blends along with grinding my own Cinimon, nutmeg, chilli powder from scratch.I found that a non commercial grand product just Does not cut the Mustard (Seed). I bit the bullet & paid out in this one which I waited to come up cheap on Amazon Warehouse. So far I've used this to blitz Skittles with Sugar for Skittle Vodka which it did a wonderful job of in less than a minute with two 30 second pulses.I have also blitzed Pear Drops, Rubarb &Custard Sweets with Sugar to make respectively Pear Drop Rubarb/Custard Gin These ground down to find dust within a minute. Which would of not been possible in a cheaper/non commercial grade Grinder. The other factor is that the blades are in a detachable grinding out which means these are replaceable (which getting reliable blades on other models has been problematic).I was sceptical having few reviews for this item but I'm very happy this far with this Waring Industrial SpiceGrinder if your a budding Curry Cook this is perfect. But then time will tell.

Extremely poor quality Spice Grinder - Not recommended to buy at all
I had spent £225.59 for Waring WSG60K Spice Grinder. I received the grinder on 30 Nov 2020. We used this grinder two or three times a month. Since May 2021 the grinder was giving us trouble. It became very noisy. The black varnish at the bottom of the two bowls came off with a golden tinge. The bases of the two Grinding Bowls are torn (see the images). After each round of operation, we can smell burnt varnish. We found that the black polish on the bases of the two bowls was burnt after each round of operation. Sadly, another bowl leaks water. I was forced to stop using this very expensive product. We have been very careful while grinding spices, etc. Now the situation is that we are not able to use the Spice Grinder. Disappointingly, the two bowls are useless to us. The spare grinding bowls cost very high. The grinder has become useless to us well before 1 year from the date of purchase. I do not recommend anyone to buy this very expensive "Waring WSG60K Spice Grinder".Update: We are not using this grinder for a few months -- however, the black varnish at the bottom of the two bowls still spoils the place where we have kept them. Probably the quality of the bowl bottom and varnish are not up to the standard. We request Amazon and Waring to take back this product from us. The purchase is a waste of our hard-earned money.

Excellent grinding machine.
More powerful motor than the smaller version and holds far more. Very pleased with it although there are only two cups with this whereas three with the smaller version. On the whole very pleased, well made and possibly less noisy than the smaller version.Used it a few times now and am very pleased, takes much large quantities as I knew but you have to use it to realise just how much more.
