Art Sozo: Painting with God: Connecting to God's Heart

I only heard about the Sozo Ministry a few months ago. Sozo means "saved, healed, and delivered." I have an amazing mentor who led some of my Sozo healing sessions and then I heard about Art Sozo. This ministry is all about removing anything in our lives that blocks us from receiving His love for us. I had my first Art Sozo painting night with friends yesterday and it was wonderful. The leader used some of the examples from this book to lead us in separate exercises. There are multiple activities/exercises in this book for you to do yourself, there's room for you to journal, and the author guides you through these exercises. She doesn't tell you how to paint or what colors to use or what tools to use but most of this is asking God questions and painting what you feel He is telling you. Your paintings become really dear to you because you painted with God, He spoke of His heart for you, and the painting in a sense "captures" that. I leave my paintings out throughout the day and am reminded of His heart for me. I also love that I can connect with Him on a significant creative level and I by no means am a professional artist.

This is a great art devotional book for christians i have actually been able to do some of the prompts using a digital art painting app pixelmator because sometimes using actual paint is cumbersome if you dont have time or space. Its also a cool way to store the finished project without taking up much space. It is cool to see where God will lead me the last prompt i worked on God reminded me of a word I was given about 8 years ago and He still wanted to complete it.

Art SOZO is a great book! I found it an amazing guide to connecting with God through art. I do art therapy with kids in a mental health program within my community and I found this book exactly what I needed it for. It's easily adaptable to meet the program's criteria while allowing Holy Spirit to flow through creativity!
