You can use pencil sharpener or electric, does not matter. I use the pencil sharpener that's not electric.

Q: Are these pencils lightfast?

I don't know, but I do know that the General Pencil company has fantastic customer service. If you email them, they will get back to you right away. They are an awesome company.
