Written on Card: Rodin's life was a heroic one. He devoted every working hour of his long life to the pursuit of his art, creating a body of masterpieces of an abundance, revolutionary inventiveness and integrity which lifts his name high up among the greatest sculptors of modern times. Today his place in the history of art is more secure than ever. The cathedral was completed in 1910. Rodin has made a great number of studies of hands, but this composition of two right hands, arched towards eachother, is probably the best known of this group, and because of its strong spiritual and emotional appeal, one of the most famous of all Rodin's works.
