Good quality, would buy another
The wood is finished well. The thumbscrew locks the fence down securely and the sliding pin on the mortise gauge operates smoothly while also fitting snugly in it's channel without any slop.

Very very nice super cool quality piece

Major flaw
Don't buy this marking gauge. It's very good looking, made with rosewood and nice brass fittings, but it has a major flaw and needs to be modified. If you want to scribe a 1/4" wide line along a piece of wood, you won't be able to because the single marking pin is in the wrong position. You can't get closer than 3/4" from the outside. I had to take the pin out and drill a hole closer to the fence and epoxy the pin in where it is supposed to be.

Should have known better, and no one's fault but my own.

Looks good, useless as a tool
Looks very nice, but it not a good tool. It cannot bi tighten, there is always a play and movement of the shaft, therefore useless.This doesn't mean that other samples are faulty, but I am reviewing one that I got.It is going back where it came from.
