FINALLY... a trouble free solution that works!!!
The media could not be loaded. There is nothing worse than seeing the remnants of a rat invasion in your home. I would hear them, but had no way to get them that I was comfortable with. I won't do glue traps, I won't do the snap their neck traps. I can't see the dead animal or struggling animal and dispose of it. I am just too squeamish. I tried the peppermint sprays and I think it just relocated the rats to another room. I was at my wits end. I have dogs, so poison is not an option, nor do I want I want a dying rat to crawl under the sink or wherever and rot. THEN.... a friend told me verbatem her struggles with rat invasions in her home and this was her solution. This product is the best!!! It is instant, there is no danger to my dogs and I don't have to look at a dead rat. It took 3 days before I got my first rat. I baited it with dog kibble. So easy to set up, the trap has a blinking light that lets you know that there is a catch. I did't see anything but a tail. I took it out to the garbage can, dumped the rat into it without ever seeing it. The next morning, I woke up to another blinking light. A baby rat... I am thrilled with this product and that I now have a solution to this horrendous problem that has wreaked havoc in my home off and on for years. THANK YOU for my peace of mind.

They do not work.
So I have had these for three days now, and I am sorely disappointed. Twice now the traps have been set off by big bugs that fly in there they get shocked and the light goes off and I have to reset it. And twice now the rat has gone into the trap and has escaped. I know this because each time there’s a clump of fur left in there from the nasty rat. I hate rats I horribly hate rats and I was hoping that this would be a good fix. I am going to return both of these and try a different brand.

Works great, no messy clean-up
These work great and they make it super easy to clean up. They are especially great for my wife who doesn't want to see the dead rodents. The only reason they won't get 5 stars from me is that they are a bit pricey and the batteries don't last as long as I would hope.

Highly recommended.
Very effective product. After much effort and money spent trying to humanely trap and relocate my rat guests, who had taken up residence in my attic and pantry, with no success (rats are VERY smart), I decided to buy two of the Rat Zappers. These rats dined on all the yummy baits set in my cage-box type traps without ever tripping the trap door (well at least not when they were inside). I finally said enough is enough and decided to get serious. I set two of these traps out baited with grapes and pieces of english muffins in the switched OFF mode for three consecutive nights. Each morning all the baits were gone. On the fourth night I used the same baits and switched both of them ON. I got up around 3 AM to check and both traps had dead rats inside. I removed the rats, reset both traps, and went back to bed. I got up at 7 AM to check again and another rat had bitten the dust. I left the traps set the next few days but apparently there were only three because I saw or heard no more evidence of them. I had sealed all possible entry points previous to trapping so my problem was solved in one night. Highly recommended.

There are no guarantees the equipment will work for long
Bought 2 after 1 week one started shorting out and doesn’t work. The other is still working well

Excellent!!
These are highly effective traps. I followed the directions and instructional videos and had a dead mouse in each within a few hours. Two hours after these first two, I had racked up a kill count of six. For bait, Victor recommends dry bait- I used a Goldfish cracker in one and a piece of shredded wheat in another, eventually switching over to just Goldfish. Most of the time, the mice were not even able to touch the bait before their death. None were able to successfully steal the bait, either. Not sure about the longevity of the traps yet, but so far, I am a happy customer.NOTE: The traps take a while to deactivate once they have a victim- they sound and smell like they are still electrocuting the little guys for a couple minutes after the initial kill. I usually shut them off early, but you should not have issues if you aren't right there to check the trap.

Very disappointed - quality has dropped to very poor!
I bought three of these Zappers a year or two ago - and they seemed well built and worked great, no problems. Bought three more (one for me, two for friends), even though the recent reviews for them has gone south. I just received them. Two are defective - buzzing as soon as the batteries are put in and power turned on. Green light comes on, then the red light flashes and it buzzes - seems to be shorting out. Going to check the third one - hopefully it's not defective, too. Bummer - these were really good back then - someone is cutting corners. Maybe it's time to look for a new brand.

It works.
You get a lot of zaps per battery set (I use rechargeable). I would not put peanut butter in there, it would be too hard to clean out. I use salted peanuts in the shell and that works even better. When they lose their scent just tip them out and drop in another two (be certain they are all the way back and not shorting out the plate). They smell the peanuts and the salt. The batteries are difficult to put in and out because of the battery cover (but that could be viewed as a safety feature). It took a long time for the unit to lose its manufacturing plastic and electronic scent (even I could smell it). Once that faded and they could smell the peanuts, it worked well. And unlike a mechanical trap there are no nasty half-traps (They are zapped or they are not). Both mice and chipmunks were zapped. A discriminator cover can be put over the unit to control the size of the rodent to be zapped. Those clear plastic food containers work well and keep the unit dry if its used outside. Just drill or cut the size hole you need.Sometimes the batteries would pop loose after a zap. Could be temperature change or vibration.
