Borgen Trilogy [DVD]

I came to this after exhausting 'The Killing' and 'The Bridge' and feeling in desperate need of a further Scandi drama to occupy the evenings. Initially I didn't expect too much of 'Borgen' as the scenario seemed rather tame after those two crime-based sets.But how wrong could I be! I was rapidly drawn into the storyline. The series is remarkably well acted and written. The cast superlative; Sidse Babett Knudsen's depiction of Brigitte Nyborg Christensen provides the core thread of the three series and throughout she provides a masterclass in acting, and I can't think of anything I've ever watched on television that surpasses it. The other leading characters are all fascinating - really well drawn, and the chemistry between them is never predictable. Watching the mechanisms of politics in Denmark, based entirely on coalitions, is at first unfamiliar to a British viewer, but it's fascinating. I can't recommend this enough...

Wonderfully cast Danish Trilogy. Series 1740 minutes of absorbing, thrilling, and captivating enjoyment. The only National Government/Press series I know of! But this presents what I like even better than crime series. Deals with the machinations of those involved and their real reasons for what they do and say in times of national and international crises. The very best series I own. Looking forward to Danish film Hijacking, involving Somali pirates. Danish products incitful, absorbing, and gripping, whether TV or film!!!

I enjoyed this on TV and enjoyed going through the whole thing again without waiting for each following series. It has not dated, and is well-written and acted. The actors' English when they speak it is incredible and puts our lack of linguistic ability to shame.

Excellent. We watch regularly when the tv has nothing to tempt us - which is quite often!

Have now watched season one and two, this has to be one of the best series that I have ever watched, it is gripping, draws you into the story, fast paced and full of twists and turns, I would recommend this dvd set to everyone, don't be put off by the fact it is political, it is a great series and the politics are realistic but not boring.

Fantastic series that engages on both the politics of power and personal integrity and relationships.Great that you get to see people struggle with who they are; their personal histories; and their wrestling with where their loyalties lie.Borgen ('Castle' - think Danish Congress/ White House) is in DANISH with English subtitles. The English subtitles had some errors and was occasionally less than great, which is the only reason I dropped the rating to 4 Stars. If you ignore that, it is a clear 5 star experience. Great binge-worthy series that actually has a LOT of actual political and historically accurate references in the story line.Highly recommended.

Arrivato in anticipo rispetto al previsto. Confezione esterna in buone condizioni, ma in tutti e tre i cofanetti interni le alette in plastica che sostengono i DVD sono arrivate spezzate da un lato e "ballano" un po' quando vengono girate. Consigliatissimo comunque, perché la serie è davvero un capolavoro.I received it earlier than expected. The external package is in good condition, but the plastic flaps on which the DVDs are positioned were broken on a side, so it is not easy to turn them, they "dance" a little. A good purchase anyway, 'cause the series is really a masterpiece.

Series 1 and 2 are world class.Star Sidse Babett Knudsen is terrific as a smart independent woman leader.You get a handle on the subtitles and all of the Danish political players pretty quickly.Suggest stopping at the end of Series 2. Series 3 is a disappointment.

This is an outstanding series worthy of being in the same high quality of West Wing. The characters are compelling and plots are realistic. This series is instructive and insightful of the human and of the political worlds which so affect us. The only regret is there is, as yet, not fourth series planned. This is not just entertainment; it is education of a universal sort.

Leider ist diese Version nur in Dänisch und Englischen Untertitel. dem Beschrieb leider nicht zu entnehmen. Da ich in der Schweiz wohne lohnt sich eine Retournierung nicht.

Great series. Maybe a little naif, but very interesting and exciting. The Danish version of The West Wing, very well performed.

dvd played ok...this was a region B dvd played on a multi region player.

These discs turned out to be completely unusable. Not a single one worked. Tell me what I should do to receive a refund

The best! Great acting and stories, less over the top than House of Cards. Do note that these BluRay discs require a player that can play region 2 format.

Blue-Ray Format does not play on American Blue-Ray Disc Players. I understand that (from reading the literature that came with the disc package) it is all in Danish with English Sub-Titles. I also understand there is an English language version but this is not it.
