You need this book in your life!
You guys I loved this book! In true Meyer fashion she created an amazing story, with great characters and character development that will hook you in from the get go.The story follows Prudence, a sophomore girl who loves to make plans and following them to a T, she knows if she does this her plans will always yield the results she hopes for.Sadly for Prudence, life doesn't always go according to her plans. In comes Quint.Quint is a free spirit guy who likes to go with the flow of things and who has bigger issues than showing up on time or following some girl's meticulously made plan.Quint and Prudence have been science partners all year and their last project has been something Prudence has been working on for weeks because she is sure Quint is not going to pull it off. He's been late more times than she can count, and he doesn't even explain why (more like she doesn't let him explain).Yet, Prudence still hopes he will show up on time during the presentation for their last project. That's all she is asking for. For him to be on time during the most important project for the class. But that's not how things work. In true Quint fashion, he comes in to interrupt her during the presentation and things just go downhill from there for Pru. The one day she needed him to be there on time he wasn't and she is having the worst day.To top it all off when she thinks this will be the las time she has to deal with him, he shows up at her favorite restaurant during karaoke night and even though she doesn't want to sing, someone plays a prank on her and writes her name down so she has to go and perform. There is a weird moment when she notices Quint noticing her in a different way, but is over as soon as the song is. Once she gets off stage she has a freakish accident where she falls and hits her head.Once she comes back from her blackout, somehow she comes back with a little power. She is able to give instant karma to those who are rude, liars and just plain mean. Yet for some reason it doesn't work with Quint.Prudence would really like for it to work on him because not only did he ruined her sophomore year by being late almost every time to their morning class, but for some reason he got a better grade in the class and when she asks him to redo the project he just flat out refuses. For someone as persistent and perfectionist as Prudence that "no" is just not going to cut it. Somehow she is going to make him do the project again, even if it takes her all summer to convince him.Obviously it doesn't take all summer, she quickly finds a way to convince him to work together so they can redo the project the right way this time and bump their grades up.Prudence doesn't expect to actually enjoy working with Quint. She learns why he was late all the time and she is able to see a different side of him. The charming side, the one everyone could see, but her.Quint also starts to understand Prudence, why every little plan she does means so much to her, why him being late and not reliable all the time in class meant, and in a way hurt her so much. They both have so much to learn from each other and the perfect way to do it is by working together to breathe in new life to his mother's rescue center.Instant Karma is a beautiful story about learning to listen, learning to trust others and enjoying the little things in life. Meyer created a cute story, with relatable characters that actually behave the age they are supposed to be.Meyer's first shot at contemporary is a straight win! Completely recommend to everyone looking for a cute, relatable, feel-good story, with one of the cutest love stories!

A very enjoyable book
3 1/2 starsPrudence "Pru" Barnett is an overachiever. She likes to organize things, she does not like to settle for subpar, She is a perfectionist who does not trust that anyone can do things to her standards. Especially not Quint Erickson, her lab partner in Biology in their sophomore year. Quint is her mortal enemy. He is a slacker, who is always late. When they receive their grade on the last day of school for their final project, Pru is not happy they got a C as their group grade, and that Quint got a higher mark than her for their individual grades. Her teacher will let them redo the paper, but it has to be a group effort. So Pru has to convince Quint to agree to redo the paper with her. But Quint is happy with his grade. But does agree to work with her again if she spends 6 weeks volunteering at the Fortuna Beach Sea Animal Rescue Center, that his mother runs. Reluctantly Pru agrees and she soon discovers that Quint is not what she first thought. The "instant karma" that Pru can now dish out really takes a back seat in the story. While there were quiet a few times that we saw Pru use her new power, to me this was more of a coming of age story of Prudence. I will say I was a bit disappointed at first. I was expecting a more laugh out loud read as Pru handed out her karma. But then the further I got in the book, the more my disappoint disappeared as the story evolved and I couldn't get enough of Pru and Quint.I loved the back and forth banter between Pru and Quint as they discover the other is not really as bad as they thought. As well as the banter between them and their friends Ari, Ezra and Jude(Pru's twin brother).I also really liked all the information on the rescuing and rehabilitation of the sea animals. It was very sad and also heart warming to read. It really made me think.I have to say I was not a fan of Pru at the beginning of the story, she was very judgmental of people without knowing their circumstances. But as she grew as they story went on I warmed up to her. Though I have to say Quint was my favorite lolAnd if you are a fan of Jaws and The Beatles you are going to like this: Quint is named for Quint in Jaws And Prudence and all her siblings are named for Beatles songs -"dear" Prudence, "Hey" Jude, Lucy "in the sky with diamonds", Penny "lane", Eleanor "rigby"

Prudence is annoying
Prudence is partners with Quint, who is just an awful biology partner. He is always late, misspells words, and never really does anything. Prudence likes to have things done. She’s a perfectionist. They end up getting a C on their assignment and she can’t have that. The teacher allows them to resubmit it during summer break if they actually both work on it as a team. Prudence feels like she can do it on her own and reads Quint’s report and discovers there is an animal center in town that rescues sea animals. She goes there and finds out Quint volunteers there and that his mom owns it. He agrees to redo the project if Pru volunteers at the center. Also, Pru randomly gets instant karma powers after a night of karaoke and hitting her head.I could not stand Pru. She is selfish, self-entitled, annoying, and a hot head. I enjoyed the sea animals and Quint. I felt like the ending was rushed and just thrown in to make drama. Also, the ending was not satisfying.

A fun, clean romance for young adults!
The story opens as the main character, Prudence, awaits her class partner for their group project presentation. Quint shows up late and acts nonchalant. She believes that she’s done all of the work but the teacher gives her the lower grade because she struggles with teamwork. She’s allowed an extra credit assignment and grade if she’ll do more research on the topic and demonstrate her ability for teamwork. She volunteers at Quint’s family owned sea animal rescue center for her research. During summer break, Prudence expands her horizons and broadens her perspective. She also helps catch an embezzler. A clean read with some unexpected happenings, 4 stars!*I also listened to the audiobook which was fun to listen to!

More than the title
This was a really fun and enjoyable book!! I'll start by saying that the "instant karma" gimmick of the story really doesn't play out as much as I expected, so much it doesn't that I forgot about it... and it's not a bad thing!!!The plot and characters themselves carry the book well enough on their own!! Both characters, but especially the main one, are not the most likeable - not awful or cruel - but those people that are easy to be frustrated about, but at the same time they work so well together, and while they work on themselves and their behavior, they never fix each other, their personality, the good and the bad, is always present, which I really love!! You just learn to work around what can annoy you about someone!!! The setting of the Sea Animal Rescue Center was different from what I've seen before and it made my child-me, the one who wanted to be a marine biologist, very happy, it was so interesting to see the animals and how they're taken care of, and also Prudence's business savvy mind was so smart and she had these fabulous ideas!!!Now while all these things definitely carried the book and gave us a fun and cute story, knowing how well Marissa Meyer can tell "out of this world" elements, I did have bigger hopes for the magic realism of it all!!!

review
[pt/en]Começou bom, aí no meio enrolou enrolou enrolou e acabou virando 3 estrelas no máximo, quase que dava menos..It started out good, very promising, then in the middle it got a little boring and ended up becoming 3 stars, almost 2.5 stars

Don't even bother !
I couldnt even finish this book, What a dull, sook of a main character, I loved Marissa Meyer' Lunar chronicles, this is beyond readable, what I thought would be more grown up age people, its a teenage girl who literally stomps her foot when her younger sister eats the last banana....get a grip and its so clear that Quint has alot more he deals with at home than this little Muppet can comprehend. Don't bother with this one!
