The Bay: A Summer Suspense Mystery (The Summer Suspense Mysteries Book 3)

St Ives excitement!
The media could not be loaded. I'd been waiting for 'The Bay' to come out this summer, after what seems like ages, after devouring 'The Creek ' and 'The Cove'. The delayed arrival was driving me mad, especially as I hoped to read it while I was actually IN St Ives, its setting, at the end of July. Nevertheless, it was worth the wait. As a regular visitor to St Ives since I was a baby, Louise certainly seems to know it well, like me. She writes in a way that takes you across the harbour and the backstreets visually; I loved how she mentions much loved streets and businesses by name, and believe me, she's captured their atmospheres perfectly. As for the plot: cleverly interwoven investigations of the theft of a painting, a murder and the past of Sergeant Sophie Keene, keeps you gripped and reading on. The humour of the characters and the 'love story' is a pleasant addition amongst the grittier bits (my old head can't seem to stomach anything too sinister in school holidays!) Is it a short book or just that I sped my way through it as it didn't last long!In any case, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Please don't make me wait so long for the next 'Summer Series' book. More 'Cornwall with an edge' please! Great stuff. Well done, Louise!(This is a photo of Porthgwidden Beach mentioned at the start of the novel)

A delicious mystery with good characters.
I read this book in one sitting as I really wanted to find out who the murderer was.I always enjoy L. J. Ross’s books and although I love the Ryan books and the setting of the North East where I live. I also love these Mysteries as my Father was from the West Country and once again I feel at home. Louise’s attention to detail makes her a wonderful writer and I can’t wait for the next one.

A good read
I prefer the nitty gritty of the Ryan books but for a few hours on a beach, not necessarily St Ives, this is a good choice. Also a good choice for a sunny back garden if not going away.

Secret past
Another great read from LJ Ross Sophie and Gabriel both have dark secrets they would rather not talk about but as Sophie starts to investigate the circumstances surrounding an unidentified body washed up in the bay, she begins to realise that her secret is going to come to the surface. Gabriel finds he must also come to terms with his past. Can they sort it out together?

Another excellent story
Another brilliant story by LJ Ross. Set in another corner of the UK, with a new cast of characters. This time the detective is female and young. I loved this story just as much as Ross's other books, possibly more. Hoping this is the start of another brilliant series.

The Bay
A great read from LJ Ross. Different from the DCI Ryan series. A bit cheeky having Sophie, the main character, buy a DCI Ryan book as part of the story. Brilliant. The book is fast paced and full of great characters.. very enjoyable summer read.

yet another enthralling read
Every time I think this author has released her best work she goes and proves me wrong, and she has done it again with The Bay. As ever she has crafted engaging and likeable characters who soon became like old friends.Once again I wait the next book with baited breath.
