[6-Pack] 6" Metal Recessed Can Light Trim Cover, Step Baffle with Ring, White (Trim Only, Bulb Not Included)

The good:These baffles look so much better than the original ones that came with my house. These surround the bulb more closely and have a lip at the top so you are not looking into the guts of the fixture beyond the baffle, giving an overall more pleasing look especially if you are using a smaller bulb like BR30. Changing from old yellowed rings and wide-open baffles to these really updates the look of the room.The bad:As others mentioned, the rings are plastic so in time will become yellow and need to be replaced. Also some of the foam pieces that go against the ceiling were stretched and bent out of shape, which I believe happened when they were placed in the packaging (see last picture). But you don't really need the foam pieces above the ring for anything, and where they were out of shape I just discarded them and everything is fine without them. Also one of the baffles was out of shape itself, which I didn't notice until I looked at the picture I took for this review (last picture, upper left part the lip is flattened), but this won't be noticeable once it's installed in a fixture and there is a bulb in it. I think these minor issues just indicate they need better quality assurance and/or packaging to keep the product in good shape.One installation tip, use needle-nose pliers to handle the springs, both when removing the old baffles and installing these. It sure saves your fingers.Overall I am very happy with these.

This are easy to install, and bright white. I utilized 5 of these to help with a refresh of my kitchen. The old trim pieces had turned yellow with age, and were contributing to the dated look in the kitchen. Swapping out the old trim was very easy and took things from a pronounced yellowed look to something that blends in nicely with the white ceilings and, to the extent they attract attention (not nearly as much as the yellowed ones), they given a rather crisp and clean appearance.Installation is easy:Remove the bulb - making it easy to reach inside to where the hangars are.Grab the circular wrapped wire on the spring hangar, and push it up and over the fixture base to release the hanger, then do the same for the other side.Reverse the process you used to remove the old one to install the new one.One note: These come wrapped individually, and each has a thin foam ring around the rim. You'll want to remove that prior to installing the trim.

I had replaced the BR30 bulbs in one of our rooms with downlight LED bulbs that had the trim ring built in. When I replaced those with Hue White Ambiance BR30s, I could not find the rings I had removed, so bough these to replace them (they were actually cheaper than just rings at the time). I am very happy with the results - they were easy to install by hooking to the holes at the very top of the can, stay in place well, and look better than the default ring that came with the cheap cans the previous owners used. Overall, I am very pleased.

Baffle is metal (don't know if steel, aluminum, or both), ring is definitely plastic--it even says as much on the side of the box.Foam is cheap open cell stuff. Easily deformed, so it often doesn't sit perfectly in the ring. As long as you get it close, it generally slips into place if you turn the ring back and forth a bit (may have to pull the baffle down a little to reduce the pressure against the ring).Only two springs to hold it in place, and they were a bit long for my light fixtures, so I had to use the unused screw holes in the top of the fixture instead of the usual spring attachment points on the sides.Generally good quality, just would have preferred if it was all metal and had three or four springs.

These made a wonderful difference to the can lights in our ceiling. The place really looks like new again. One thing I ran into, the top of these are about an inch smaller than the originals. The first bulb I tried to put back wouldn't reach the socket. However, there is a wing nut on the cans that let you move the light socket so I just moved them all down a bit and these worked out great! I did have one trim ring that was scuffed a bit, but I'm hoping I don't need to use all of the 24 that I bought.

We had to patch some cracks. Which lead to painting the ceilings. And suddenly the old can pot cores looked so yellowed! Nothing like that domino effect! Well we replaced them with these and they are awesome! Hubs said they were easy to install. We never thought we needed to until we painted. I am telling you our ceilings are so much brighter and reflective now - we wished we had done it years ago.Only good thing that came out of Covid confinement is all the home improvements we're making. Y'all don't know you need to replace, but you most likely do, too. Who knew? LOL. Get these. They're great.

I replaced some of the yellowed out baffles that I had. 5 fit easily. 2 did not. The housing type was such that it was not adjustable in depth. The baffles are narrower than one I had before. So the I could not screw in the light bulb back in. I ended up cutting a portion of the narrower part of the baffle so that I can put my light bulb back in. Otherwise It would been a 5-star rating.. I don't know how well they will last. I received them 4-5 hours ago and I just got done installing 7.

I accidentally purchase the contractors pack of can lights at HD without the Baffles. I installed them and then realized what I had done. I went to the store to buy them and found the cost of the baffles to be the same price as a whole contractors pack. Before I broke down and bought them, I checked amazon. The price was great and the quality was much better than what I would have purchased at HD since these are metal and HD only had plastic. I have been very happy with the purchase.
