X-Ray a.k.a Hospital Massacre (Slasher Classics) [Blu-ray]

This is indeed a long lost treasure of an 80's movie, very cool slasher film with your usual cheesy set up and story but so much fun, this is certainly very different from your usual traditional slashers with its surrealism and nightmarish scenes, this time a killer is lurking on the 8th and 9th floor of a creepy hospital and one woman's past is back to get her! Loads of cool kills, not major gore but plenty of blood spurting! There is some nice nudity too and plenty of it which is a tradition in all good 80's slashers, Barbi Benton the lead female star was a playboy model and is very beautiful and has a very demanding role with plenty of screaming and fighting as well, this is a rare horror that certainly must be in your 88 films slasher collection.Blu-ray has a nice picture quality for an old 80's movie, 1080p HD,Features include a 20-min interview/making of the film with the director, a 15-min interview with the cinematographer, a commentary, trailers,you get a reversible sleeve with the original hospital massacre cover!Region B only, 89-mins, 1981. English language.As usual it comes in a nice slim red Blu-ray case.

This is my first purchase of 88Films series SLASHER CLASSICS COLLECTION. I was taking my time because I'm not a Slasher Film fan so I needed an all-round good package, and this is what we get with X-ray. When you are considering purchasing blu-ray in this league you need to set realistic expectations, 88Films is a two man crew who do this part time for the love of it and not to rake in the millions after every release.Not being a fan of Slashers I don't know where X-Ray sits in the ratings of other slashers. If you want to find all the relevant info than Google is your friend. My naked opinion of the film is an "OK", there are a few gory scenes but nothing that compares to today's gore-porn but it does have a unique quality. But onto the actual product......The quality of the case and printing is high and you also get an alternate cover with the title of HOSPITAL MASSACRE, but the X-Ray version is much better. The menus are easy to navigate and look very professional. 88Films use a transfer that is given to them and is ok and nothing on it that would ruin your experience of watching the film. For extras there are a few interesting interviews but to me the stand out was the commentary. It was fun and informative.For the price I paid I'm extremely happy with what I got.

Great movie and great seller.

If you're going to treat your audience with utter contempt then you really don't deserve a new crowd to watch your obscure movie. XRAY had all the tools in the box and blew most of them. Plot holes are huge the acting is bad even for an 80s slasher and even the kills are boring. At 89 mins the movie felt too long.The gorgeous Barbi Benton goes to the hospital for her check up results and things go to worse as her results have been switched and now she can't get out of the place. It takes her waiting boyfriend until night time to decide to get up and go look for her- perhaps he's the son of the cab driver in Airplane. A killer from her childhood is on the loose in the hospital and will stop at nothing to kill her. As a side note there are 3 old biddies who add zero to the movie as Benton shares a room with them. There is one stand out highlight and for a guy it is great to see Benton's roosters, just being honest- it would have been forgotten about had the movie been good.There seems to be a faux pas homage to Michael Myers and Halloween near the ending with the sheet cover and just when the killer could have got a doc to do his dirty work and operate on Benton the killer intervenes????The only thing going for the movie is the creepy hospital which was actually a real one disused and also that every doctor and nurse seemed to be obnoxious and uncaring enough for us to think that they just suck. Movie isn't a complete failure, but flicks dealing on the same subject, namely VISITING HOURS did a far better job.

Good release from 88films. Crystal clear mastering of this forgotten slasher from 1981. Good sound as well (i.e. I'm no expert, but I didn't need to turn the volume up to max like with other studio's blu ray releases).In terms of the film, I really enjoyed it. Yes, it was predictable, but the acting was good (well, for a slasher anyway), and there were some quite tense moments.As long as you don't expect something amazing, and are 'in it' for the fun of it, you'll enjoy this!

Interesting addition to the slasher genre - a borderline 'nasty' in it's day. Definately worth a watch and Barbi Benton is a decent bit of eye candy even though she is completely out of her depth bless her. She still manages to give it a go though. Some cool slayings - another triumph for our chums at 88 Films - they and Arrow seem to be going from strength to strength may they blossom and prosper evermore. .

A really good slasher anothe great cheesy 80's movie

I only gave this film three stars because of the gratuitous female nudity. However aside from that this film is entirely watchable. Better than that it's a gleefully gory hoot. However there are no subtitles. At one hour and 29 minutes the film doesn't hang around. I freely and fully admit that I bought but his blu ray thinking that it was a different hospital set slasher from the early 80s. That mild disappointment aside the victim count is through the roof. The multiple murders are really quite impressively bloody and entertaining. The characters are crazy. The plucky heroine is truly one to root for. She's also a great screamer. It's just a great shame that she couldn't keep her titties covered up. The way the killer is finally dispatched guarantees no sequel. And there hasn't been 33 years later.
